San Diego State fails in attempt to create new 'Power Five' conference with Pac-12, Mountain West, AAC members

Now Oregon St & Washington St look to be joining the MWC.

 

We could have a preseason game against a cupcake and give free tickets. But some schools play one or two decent teams all year. Everyone should play a good s hedule and 12-0 should mean 12-0. Undefeated and getting embarrassed when a team plays it’s first really good team …. I dunno. Notre Dame has backed in so many times. Bama was would have probably been favored against anyone but Georgia last year in tgat playoff. I get it, they lost a couple. That’s why schedules should be as good as teams can make them. Scheduling to back your way in is lame. Bowden ran to the acc for exactly that reason. It wouldn’t hurt my feelings if we had four 10-2 teams in the playoffs.

 

No ref$u and no scUM. Anybody else has some measure of integrity to consider. Not those two bums

 

SDSU with zero pull

 

We backed into the 1996/97 Sugar Bowl and I was freaking thrilled. Then we made a statement. We even needed a little help getting to Glendale in 06-07. Then we made a statement. All that matters is what you do with your opportunity. Unfortunately there’s no asterisk for UGa beating freaking TCU to win the NC. Within days nobody cares about anything except the final result

 

If you didn’t win the national championship, you’re not a champion and that’s all that matters

I agree with you, basically. But I still think an easy game or even two is not a bad thing if strategically placed on the schedule: which ours are not. On that we do not share the same opinion.
What would really be ideal is equity in the schedules. We have 2 cupcakes this year while almost every other team in conference has 3. Even some of the schools with an annual game with an in state rival still schedule 3, (see Kentucky)
Bowden NEVER had to run a gauntlet during the season and yes, mighty Notre Dame dots their schedule with service academies and weak sisters EVERY season. Burns my butt too.

 

Vandy should be our cupcake. If we can’t beat them , maybe we suck and deserve no wins at all. Missouri is our second cupcake.

 

You don’t back in if you’re the champion and we know who the 20 is in 52-20. Nobody wants to be remembered for that.

 

l’m developing a strong dislike for Missouri. They beat us more than they should and that’s on us. They seldom represent the SEC well out of conference.

 

We have been pretty bad, a few highlights but bad. Trask and that offense was really good but the defense was pathetic and that’s about as good as we’ve been since 09. Losing so many games to Missouri pretty much sums it up.

That’s a pathetic out of conference schedule

 

Better than I thought but, not impressive. Embarrassing losses and some of the wins against teams that should have been easy wins were damn close if I remember correctly.
I remember the Boston College loss and of course losing to Purdue then coming a frogs hair from beating Georgia.

 

Well duh - nobody’s denying that. How can you? My point is that you can back into the NC game and still emerge as undisputed champion. It’s not so much how you got there, but how you did with the opportunity.
52-20 and 41-14 are statement wins. Win like that and nobody can seriously question how you got there. That’s my point

 

Mizzou went 4-0 3 times!
3-1 6 times!
