Early in the game Broome did some nasty jawing at Condon, for those that did not notice. Man imagine if Broome, from Plant City, Fla, had picked UF instead of Auburn. I understand we were #2 in his recruitment. Guess he picked wrong.....
Funny enough, I was on campus when Coach was hosting Broome. I remember being impressed w how engaging Golden was. I introduced myself and my daughter, Brooke. A couple hours later, he passed us on the golf cart… driving Broome to arena…. And yelled out, “have a fun time, Brooke”. She turned to me and asked…”how does he know me?”. lol!
Respect to Alex. That is NOT what I would have said. For the Gator fans who are whining about Condo's stats in the last couple of games, try to remember he is just a sophomore playing in his first ncaa tournament.
You think he's preying on your messed-up teeth? Okay, you knew he had a messed-up forearm. Throw an elbow in that direction and you won't be worrying about your teeth the rest of the game.
Broome transferred to Auburn from ? Morehead State? Not sure. People criticize Condon for his play vs Auburn, only 1 point, 5 fouls, 0-5 from field and 4 Rbs, below his average. But, even though I am a Gator homer, he ran the court for 23 minutes and I suspect that moving caused Broome, in 34 minutes, to get somewhat gassed which may explain Broome's lack of production in 2nd half, his FT of 3 of 7, and his +/- of a Negative 4 in a 6 point loss. Condon was Minus 1 in 6 point win. Chin was +12. Martin +12 Haugh +5 and Clayton is immeasurable in value.
Condon seems like a nice young man. Broome was shoving and hacking the whole game and our guys kept their cool.
Condo could not have been more the 80% healthy on that ankle, he still doesnt have the lift he had and his cuts side to side were a bit slower...but his straight line speed was still there and Broome was having problems keeping up..
Yeah, sadly Condo is getting a little negativity from pundits and fans. The guy shut down Broome the second half (with help of course). We need his rebounding, screens, defense and block's in UF's lethal 4 man big rotation!
