sour grapes,imo. the only way to avoid teams not playing the first round, and then bitching because baseball is a day to day game and time off hurt them is to go to 8 teams in each league, then you are playing into mid november, great baseball weather in the northeast then
Well, the format is still young (just 2 years, right?), but I think the early results should definitely raise some eyebrows: 3 out of 8 home (advantage) teams in ALDS/NLDS have advanced to the ALCS/NLCS Division rivals are 1-4 as the team with homefield advantage in the ALDS/NLDS It seems silly to me to invite so many teams into the postseason when you've played 162 games, but that ship has sailed. Houston obviously doesn't see what the problem is! Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
If I was in charge the season would be shorter and each league has two divisions. The divisional winners play each other best of seven to advance to a best of seven World Series. And get rid of interleague play. That is what the World Series is for. Never gonna happen.
if you want to shorten the regular season w/o losing games play more double-headers, especially on saturdays and holidays
When I was a kid Sunday was often a double header. That was an aftermath of teams traveling by train and needing more time to travel. Owners want more more ticket sales. Added in edit: Before the introduction of a pitch clock, limiting time outs and limiting throws to first games took over three hours to complete and a double header could be up to eight hours long if not longer. When I was a kid a game usually took 2:15 to complete so a double header would usually be over in less than six hours.
way way way back in the day a ticket was good for both games of a doubleheader, of course gas was 40 cents a gallon also.
I am older than you. I remember $0.19 a gallon and it was usually about $0.25 cents a gallon when I was cutting yards.
Yep every time a wild card team wins there are complaints. I recall the Marlins winning twice as a wild card and many trying to devaluate the championships. That ship has sailed, more wildcard teams equals more money in every sport.
The highest spending teams were eliminated early. Wildcard bad for Dodgers. Yankees did not even make the playoffs. Braves have a great front office and have stayed relevant for years
