Is this where you say back in your day Twiggy was the hottest thing around and now everyone looks like they are in a rap video?
I disagree that 25% of commercials are white dudes. Not questioning your stats just think that is a lower number. White straight guys are few and far between from what I see. And i am a white straight guy so you would think I would see more.
That could work both ways though. Because you and I are white straight guys we perceive a dearth of them in ads because so many others are now represented whereas before they weren't. Not saying that is what's happening but seems to reason its a possibility.
Oh, I'm not saying I'm right!!! Just saying that is my perception and you are probably more right than me!
I get it. I see the same thing but I'm open to entertaining possibilities because I've learned perceptions aren't necessarily realities. That's all.
Years ago (1980s) I was with a group of people and one was a partner at the ad agency that had the Levi's account. An older guy in the group complained about their commercials. The ad guy responded that the ads were not aimed at him.
Years ago there was a Camel cigarette ad with a couple talking to a tall, buff, mildly Turkish lookin guy (couldn't have him too ethnic). The husband was shorter and wimpier and wearing glasses. Vintage 1975 Camel Cigarettes Advertisement by Robert Kinser
From what I gather, people on this thread want commericals filled with big, hard muscle men who make them feel good. Different strokes as they say.
