Good for him. He should get them back to being respectable again. I expect he'll be there for a few years to pad his resume some more, then bolt when a bigger job (FSU or an SEC school) opens up. And salute to CU for being a progressive university that's not afraid to hire black head coaches, they're last 3 coaches have been black.
We'll see him in 2028 if he's still there, then. If he walks through our warm-ups in the Swamp, he will not get such a light reception.
Anyone know anything about his staff at Jackson state? Weren’t they so much more talented then all the other teams.
My brother lives in Boulder. He is pretty connected to the program, he says Deon is telling the fans and players the culture will be different. His son is going to be the QB and he has already lined up more four star athletes to talk to in recruiting then Colorado has ever seen. He will land some big fish for sure, also a defensive coach from Alabama is going to be on the staff. Deon did let his coaches coach so who knows what will happen. Colorado is depleted of players so this is a good move for them.
That coach from Bama is Charles Kelly of fsu fame. Lol. Good thing they dont play defense in the Pac 12.
There's been talk on local radio here thar CU will lower the academic requirements so better players can get in. It will be interesting to see how he does.
And they don't have the funds for it yet... Colorado AD Admits ‘We Don’t Have the Money Yet’ for Deion Sanders’s Contract - Sports Illustrated
Sarcasm aside, it's not exactly a bad thing for a guy like him to go somewhere with a bar that low. Deion is a calculating guy and I imagine he knows he can't hurt his reputation by going there even if he's average. Of course his reputation should be tarnished for turning his back on the HBC narrative and then taking their best players along with him...
Deion’s celebrity will bring in a few stars. But if you want the top players, you still need that NIL money. Him and his organization will have to spend tons more than they did at Jackson state. Let’s see how that goes. Either way, all eyes will be on Deion at a power 5 level. Will be interesting.
He'll get the time he needs, for sure. The question will be: how long does he stick around? Jackson State was 4-8 when he was hired, then: 4-3 11-2 12-0
