Getting very different messaging from the articles.

According to the original link at the top of the thread, there's a whole unit on sexual orientation and gender identity.

It doesn't even come up at all on this link:
    https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/media/pdf/ap-psychology-course-overview.pdf

And if it doesn't come up, there should be no issue with it running afoul with Florida law.

So somebody is lying here. Who is it?

‘Member when they used the “age appropriate” and tried to pretend they were protecting kindergarteners?

They then moved on to removing Pulitzer Prize winning books from middle and high schools as “porn”.

Now they expect to be taken seriously when they’ve predictably moved up to challenging AP psychology that 15-18 year olds take.

Umm… no, we had you pegged from the word go.

And you haven't moved an inch from the word go.

You think it's all just a fake problem. So frankly, we don't trust you anymore.

I think you might like trans surgeries a little too much.

Another low IQ response with nothing but over-estimated anecdotal support. There was no large scale quantifiable parental outcry for any of the Pub attack on education. I did not respond this poster, his posts or make any reference to him at all but his response, since there is no actual evidential support for his stance, must include assumptions of a personal note. Sad. Ironic isn't it that his parting dig was in fact :
"wants to dictate to others children education. Sick " Precisely the point of this thread. Wow, talk about zero self-awareness. LOL

The course units are outlined on the AP website.

There is no world in which an AP Psych teacher has the time to spend weeks on a subject that impacts less than 1% of the population. I suspect that gender dysphoria and sexual orientation are included in the cognitive psychology unit. It would appear that the journalist from the Orlando Sentinel article misspoke or misunderstood.

Who cares if they do either way? Are you seriously suggesting it’s not age appropriate to discuss for high schoolers. AP is a college prep course where you receive college credit. You’ve definitely jumped the shark of you are trying to politically micromanage the study of psychology at the college level. A course like this would be like psych 101 or into to psychology, so it covers many topics.

Yes, I would say learning is more serious than beer, but do you think its more dangerous for 17-18 year olds in a college level course to learn anything about "gender identity" than consume a beer? (And operate a car/shoot a gun)

Does anyone else get the impression that many on the right were bullied by gay kids in school?

I'll tell you what, if psych treated gender dysphoria as a mental illness I personally wouldn't have a problem with them teaching it.

But that's not how they're teaching it is it? They're presenting it as normal.

So the options we have for public schools are:
    1. Teach kids in progressive values
    2. Attempt to teach kids with neutral values
    3. Teach kids with traditional values

By removing these things from the conversation, we're attempting option 2. But if you insist, maybe we should go with option 3.

It's a college course being taught to high schoolers.

Some material isn't appropriate for high schoolers particularly if it's propagandizing. You're supposed to go to college questioning what you read. High schoolers are generally expected to accept the word and lessons from authority figures. The dynamic is different and makes all the difference in the world.
