If we are, I can see a head scratching hire like Brian Ferentz. Man, I desperately hope I’m wrong about that.
aTm first went big game hunting and came up empty. Elko registered 9-4 7-5 in his first 2 seasons at Duke and as a HC. Now he gets to see if that translates to the big pond. Texas A&M to hire Mike Elko: Aggies bring back former defensive boss after successful run at Duke, per report
Hey man…trust the process. When has it ever let us down. In all seriousness, I’m afraid you might be right.
As expected. Mississippi State hires Jeff Lebby as next coach: Bulldogs tap Oklahoma offensive coordinator to lead program
Impressive that you're able to make fun of other schools and their HC hiring follies, given our 12 year streak of whiffs, with quite possibly a 4th consecutive face plant. At this point I'd barely have it on me to laugh at Tennessee if they'd whiffed again....rocks n glass houses n such...
All the joking about FSU, Miami and UCF but last I checked UF has had three loosing seasons in a row. But somehow UF is better.
I don’t see immediately but given time, it surely can be done. Jimbo either sucks at his job or wasn’t trying very hard. He should have at least been doing what Day has done, put out a good team and you don’t always win but Day isn’t losing 4/5 games to nobodies.
If it were so easy, there would be more schools with a legit shot at winning. There’s not 128 staffs full of idiots that don’t know football, there’s a very small group of schools buying all the talent. No a staff ever existed that could take our kids and beat Georgia. Sure, Napier could have won 7-8 if he made perfect decisions all year but that’s not really much consolation. It still sucks.
Sure. But I'm not bitching about not beating the #1 ranked 2 time reigning national champion. I'm saying >7 million a year ought to get you >5 wins per year, COMPETENT game management (not "perfect"... geez...), and ...I know I'm getting real greedy here for a pip squeak program like UF, but...bowl eligibility.... But hey, you do you. Crack a bottle of champaign and celebrate incompetence. Play Power Ball, Mega Millions, put money under your pillow, hope a magic fairy comes along an makes Billy Ball magically turn into the Fun n Gun, or Urbs spread O... I'm done buying excuses. Dude's making >7 Million per year. He needs to earn it. Along with the trust and good will he's lost with Gator Nation. Please spare me the strawman bullshit like my expectations are unreasonable. Competence commensurate with his pay. That is all I'm asking, and he has fallen woefully short of that incredibly reasonable ask, 2 years runnning. PS--His mulligan expired last year.
This. Is it too much to ask for an average to above average team that doesn't have a losing conference record two years in a row.
I'm making fun of a bunch of fools that think there is a marked difference between Mark Stoops and this guy, who seems like a lesser albeit younger (and "hotter name") than Stoops (i.e. more "current" hype). I'm mocking morons who were gnashing their teeth and demanding the university NOT hire stoops but are all over the moon about a guy who is basically the same, but has accomplished far less and at a lesser program against lesser talent. I hope they end up flushing this money down the toilet again too. And, yes, I will be laughing and celebrating their failure if it does work out that way. Idiots deserve the pain of their stupidity.
The big difference is that Elko has an actual fit at A&M, as he was their former (and very popular) DC, who is supposedly well connected on the high schools there.
But the Stoops aren't connected in Texas? Again, the teeth gnashing over what amounts to an older and more proven version of what you just hired is astounding in it's stupidity and absence of awareness. Hoping they burn, burn, burn with this choice and continue to flounder because this kind of stupidity deserves pain. Much pain. Also, typical of our lame hype-driven society these days. What a dumb decision. Way to cave into the dumbass fanbase. Let them burn.
The BIG difference is that Stoops doesn't deliver the "hype requirement" needed for today's pinheaded fans.
