After going 11-2 Ryan Day is retooling his staff again with multiple changes including at OC & DC. The Brian Hartline OC experiment looks to be over but he will stay on as the WR coach. Sure would like to get him to UF, maybe like far too many from Ohio that already have, he’s ready to make the move to Florida. https://footballscoop.com/news/sources-major-staff-changes-expected-at-ohio-state
Nick is looking for a new DC. Alabama defensive coordinator Kevin Steele to retire from coaching after third stint with program, per report
“ A name to watch as Nick Saban searches for a new defensive coordinator is former Texas A&M play-caller D.J. Durkin, a source tells 247Sports' Brandon Marcello.“
LSU poaches Texas DL coach Bo Davis, big get for Brian Kelly. “Wilson Alexander of The Advocate tweets Bo Davis' deal is three years, beginning at $1.25M then $1.35M and finally $1.45M.”
Coley to serve on Beamer’s staff at South Carolina next season James Coley TE’s coach probably. I like the hire.. very solid recruiter and position coach. He would be a horrible OC though.
New Alabama coach? https://www.si.com/college/alabama/football/report-oregon-coach-dan-lanning-currently-in-tuscaloosa
Who knows how Lanning will do over long haul, but...we could’ve at least interviewed him during our last hire.
I don’t remember the timelines.. but if he was still the DC at Georgia while we were looking a bunch in this board would have had fits. They would have compared him to Muschamps. They would have said we need a coach that has HC experience. They would have absolutely melted down.
Yup. I recall GNFP discussing him as a candidate, but don’t remember specifics. I’m sure the gist was no HC experience.
Will Muschamp moving into new role on Kirby Smart’s staff, Georgia announces Moving to an off field position to spend more time with family.
I don’t think so… one kid is starting to play at Vandy. And another that was on the staff moved on last year.
Does not hurt my feelings. I have not followed Chump at UGA but he can recruit on defense and UGA has been very good on the defensive side of the ball.
He started out as an analyst and became an “on the field” field coach when they needed it a few years ago. He’s a multimillionaire. Not sure why he would want the grind anyways. Already proven he isn’t going to be a big time head coach.
