    Typing as I listen. . . .

We got back in character tonite- we played to our identity, particularly the way we defended.

I liked our defensive focus from tip for about 35 minutes. There are a few things to clean up... fouls and over help led to open looks. Our full court pressure really good.

We didnt make em, but i liked our looks. I thought we really passed it well.

We simplified our approach bc we felt we had and advantage on the interior. We wanted to get Colin going earlier. Our bigs dig a good job setting ball screens and we did good job finding our bigs inside.

I was very happy with our response. what I would give to get that game back... but you cant. You have to be ready every night, ready to battle. You have to respect the game of basketball and we didn't respect the game. I'm not taking anything away from Jones and his guys ... they were phenomenal and I hope they win the league and get back in the tourney. But we didn't respond well to a loss on the road and didn't respond until tonite.

We had healthy conversation and responded tonite.

I loved the young guys' energy. There is so much to learn, and we have to make shots. but their energy was good and the unselfishness. Elijah looked fast and confident and kowacie will continue to grow into his own. I thought "toon" made a jump with his ball screen coverage and I love his energy.

That loss seems to have stung. Good.

I liked the part about respecting the game of basketball. I am by nature optimistic so maybe the loss was a true wake up call that will pay dividends down the road……if we can hit a few triples.

If this team can make shots they will be special.

Well it depends on the shots they take - if it's 3's UF struggles, disappointingly so.

If it's twos UF is tip top.

If it's free throws - I'm thinking a bit lower % wise than Coach would like to see.

I was thinking if this team could make a decent percentage of wide open threes they will be special. I am not sure if they can.

Well, based on the first 9 games, we are probably going to struggle all year long in that regard.

Right, they missed a crap load of open 3s. Seemed they did better if someone was close.

All our shooters have averaged in the 30% range for their careers. That's not bad and that's why it's baffling that right now none of them are making them. I have to think the percentages will improve. It's unusual to see everyone in a slump at the same time.

Yup. Before the season I said this wouldn’t be a good shooting team, but also said there were enough adequate shooters that one or two guys should be “on” during any given game.
    So much for that theory.
