You are so right. UF had just as much talent or even more than UK.

Brooks only played 14 minutes and is UK’s fifth option on offense. Duruji gets much more playing time and more shot attempts. Duruji would get some of Toppin’s minutes if he were on UK’s roster but he wouldn’t start over Brooks. But again, Duruji would have never made UK’s roster anyway so there’s no way to start if you can’t make the team.

Or simply, if it hurts banging your head repeatedly against a wall, do something different.

    Personally, I prefer bourbon.

Good info. Really interesting data I had not considered. Thanks. Billy had a final four in that timespan. Mike an elite 8. I think you are definitely right about the injuries.

An educated guess on my part is that if Calipari coached the Gator roster and White coached the UK roster, the Gators would win. I’ve watched too many Gator games over the last 7 years to conclude otherwise. If you couldn’t see the difference in the offensive schemes yesterday, that’s on you.

Donovan’s first 2 years were rebuilds. His teams also had more injuries than White’s teams. The transfers and some of the early departures are on White. They should not have happened.

We got schooled, I give you that but I still maintain Cat talent is superior to UFs, by numerous metrics, IMO and I'm not knocking the Gators, Tampa you know Ky, under Cal, has brought in 5 star after five star and that was on display in Gainesville, I'm no cat fan but I see that team, at least, in the great eight.

Hope you are joking. To say we have as much talent as Kentucky is the craziest thing anyone has said this season. I will make a bet that Kentucky will have more players drafted this year and maybe top 3 pick,CC might go in second rd. Thanks I needed a good laugh
You are saying we have the talent to win NC this year? Kentucky does.

Kentucky is an elite team, especially on the road. After beating us, they improved to 5-4 in SEC road games.

I am very confident in guessing that not one well known and serious basketball analyst would agree with Tampa’s assessment of our talent vs UK’s talent. I hate saying that because it’s almost like dissing our guys. I’ll say this, though, I’ll ride with my guys Appleby, Castleton, Duruji, Phlan, Jones… etc all day. I don’t want UK’s roster in my team, I want to beat UK’s roster with our guys. Let’s hope we get a third chance at them in the SECT.

Yeah and Billy was a better coach. I don't think anyone is arguing that he's not the best coach UF has ever had. Mike White isn't on track to be another hall of fame coach. I think the perspective presented was an attempt to show that he's pretty good and could get better. Looks like he'll get an eighth year to show it but a less than stellar year will allow many Gator fans a chance to see if we can hire another Hall of Fame coach.

Billy started with a program that was maybe top 40

Florida was a top 10 program when White took over

The fact that Donovan beat him by 2 games per year (which is significant) while also beginning at a much worse spot is illuminating

We could play UK 10 games and not win one without a change of coaching. Florida got within six with less than a minute but never really threatened UK’s chance of winning because they knew they could throw it into Tshiebwe and get a score each and every time. White had no answer for it and made no adjustments to stop it. Tshiebwe had 13 points in a row at the start of the second half. All White did was hope that Tshiebwe missed a shot. That’s not the type of coaching that gives your team the best chance of winning. UK had better talent but Donovan could have won that game Saturday with the current roster. I guarantee Donovan would have made adjustments to prevent Tshiebwe from scoring 13 in a row. Heck, I think 99.9% of college coaches would have tried something besides watching it happen over and over and hoping for a miss.
