A gnat must've flew in my eye when I was watching that segment. I'm glad ESPN stuck with him after the stroke.
Kirk Herbstreit should thank Craig James daily for making the world's worst decision in the history of sports media.
The relationship Kirk & Lee have is very special and great to watch. Listening to them talk in the videos they do before the show is a hoot. Major props to Kirk for the way he takes care of Lee.
Yep, it's really been over for a few years, Covid/NIL was the final nail, but you're right, that will make it official.
And also remembering LC saying in an interview many years ago when asked why he went to FSU to be QB. And his response was one you heard from football players who went to college FSU, “Well, if you can’t go to Florida you have to go to Florida State.
In the mid 90s I needed a speaker for a sports banquet. About 7-8 months prior I had none, mentioned it to a buddy who said his dad knew LC. His Dad called him for me and then gave me his # in Orlando at the pencil company. I called, he took my call, did the calendar, set it up and as I was ready to say goodbye and a very big thank you, LC asked me, "are you busy now?" My reply, No. LC kept me on the phone for at least 30 min w/ football stories. Answered questions, etc. He had me in stitches. Met him at banquet, sat next to him. Very nice man and was a big hit. Love the guy.
A few years go, Gameday was at the Army-Navy game and they dug up some archival footage from his Navy days. May get a little dusty.
Not so fast my friend. A little dusty? Complete dust storm. The guy is a prince—and so much fun to watch. Thanks for posting.
