Of course, I don't know how common or rare incidents like this are with each president ...

Always ask, who profits? Reads as if this was important data:

The binder contained raw intelligence the US and its NATO allies collected on Russians and Russian agents, including sources and methods that informed the US government’s assessment that Russian President Vladimir Putin sought to help Trump win the 2016 election, sources tell CNN.

The intelligence was so sensitive that lawmakers and congressional aides with top secret security clearances were able to review the material only at CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, where their work scrutinizing it was itself kept in a locked safe.

It is amazing that people continue to deny his disloyalty to the United States. We are being defeated from within

Surely you didn't think Dumpty took all that stuff because it contained Pillow Guy's handwritten policy instructions? He himself is pretty dumb but people around him are aware enough to try to scrub the crime scene.

Wouldn't someone had to sign the documents out or somehow smuggle them out of the scif? If it is that easy to remove intel without anyone being able to notice or find on video then we may have bigger problems.

edit...this explains it. It likely went to Mar Lago and then who knows where.

I am curious to know if/why the only copy of something so vital is allowed to be altered by political staff so that the historical records are altered or destroyed.

The binder was last seen at the White House during Trump’s final days in office. The former president had ordered it brought there so he could declassify a host of documents related to the FBI’s Russia investigation. Under the care of then-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, the binder was scoured by Republican aides working to redact the most sensitive information so it could be declassified and released publicly.

This also may explain the sudden loss of a significant number of intel assets or may be totally unrelated

C.I.A. Admits to Losing Informants - The New York Times (nytimes.com)

Top American counterintelligence officials warned every C.I.A. station and base around the world last week about troubling numbers of informants recruited from other countries to spy for the United States being captured or killed, people familiar with the matter said.

The message, in an unusual top secret cable, said that the C.I.A.’s counterintelligence mission center had looked at dozens of cases in the last several years involving foreign informants who had been killed, arrested or most likely compromised. Although brief, the cable laid out the specific number of agents executed by rival intelligence agencies — a closely held detail that counterintelligence officials typically do not share in such cables.

The cable highlighted the struggle the spy agency is having as it works to recruit spies around the world in difficult operating environments. In recent years, adversarial intelligence services in countries such as Russia, China, Iran and Pakistan have been hunting down the C.I.A.’s sources and in some cases turning them into double agents.

It is just now becoming public that this "binder" has been missing for nearly 3 years? And all the info that it's missing is coming from anonymous sources just now, when the latest polls have Trump ahead of Biden? Just sayn!

The article is waaaaaaay too detailed to be fabricated by an anonymous source.

As to the timing, you're probably right there. I'm sure there a lot of people in the government who possess sensitive knowledge confirming why Trump should never even be allowed to visit the White House again, let alone be President again. They're probably bewildered by his continued public support despite everything that's been made public already, so they may feel a sense of duty to the country to make this kind of stuff known to the public before they vote again next year.

I hear you and you may be correct, but on the other hand, should we not want to rid our government of these kind of bureaucrats? Hold sensitive information about "Whatever" and don't expose it until that individual feels it's important enough to expose? That is the epitome of the swamp, I'm not saying Trump will clean it up, but shouldn't we desire and outsider to clean these kinds of things up?

I'm more concerned with the underlying issue itself than with the whistleblower. Maybe don't steal a bunch of sensitive documents and either lose them or refuse to return them and then you don't have to worry about it being made public at an inopportune time.

I'll add that if Biden were using his position to bury or take documents that incriminate Hunter I'd want someone to blow the whistle on that as well.

Allegedly… for all you really know there’s not a binder. I mean does our government in the digital age really use 1982 binders to store things? Probably not.
