Congratulations to Kayla DiCello for winning the All-Around Gold Medal at the Pan Am Games:

    Juegos Panamericanos 2023 (results-santiago2023.org)

Kayla DiCello Wins Pan American Games All-Around Gold - Florida Gators

    Gators Gymnastics on X: "Another gold for ! #PanAmGames All-Around to go with team won Sunday! Congrats @kayladicello ! https://t.co/2UeH34tDjE #GoGators | ‍♀️ | @USAGym https://t.co/xNbD2RLugZ" / X (twitter.com)

    Gold: Kayla DiCello 54.699 (USA/Florida)
    Silver: Flavia Saraiva 54.565 (Brazil)
    Bronze: Jordan Chiles 53.999 (USA/UCLA)
    18. Anya Pilgrim 45.766 (Barbados/Florida)

Compared to the recent World Championships in Belgium, Kayla DiCello's Pan Am Gold Medal winning score would have been good for 5th place.

Between now and the start of the 2024 NCAA gymnastics season, Anya Pilgrim can most improve on bars and beam. Given she is a UF true freshman, the experience she gained at Worlds and in these Pan Am games can only make her better. Anya will start the season with the experience of someone who was an early enrollee last January. Added depth is exactly what UF needs from her in the 2024 season. Anya's 18th finish was out of 24 all-around competitors.

Lot of buzz with Mustari. We will see what happens in a couple days.

We'll see come Wednesday. I'd like to see her in UF's class, but it is what it is.

National Letter of Intent for Women's Gymnastics:

    November 8, 2023 through August 1, 2024

I'm hoping to see anyone who is committed to UF by November 8 sign their NLI. Right now, that would be:

Shilese Jones - Class of 24
Jocelyn Sasson - Class of 25
Maddy Dorman - Class of 25

Until Shilese makes her commitment official by signing and returning her NLI, I will continue to have doubts.

With the signing of NLIs, the recruiting process is over for gymnasts. I see no reason why Jocelyn and Maddy wouldn't sign as early as possible.

    Pan Am Beam Finals:

    Gold Rebecca Andrade (Brazil) 14.166
    Silver Saraiva Flavia (Brazil) 14.033
    Bronze Ava Stewart (Canada/Minnesota) 13.900
    4. Kayla DiCello (USA/Florida) 13.800
    5. Cassandra Loustalot (Mexico) 13.300
    6. Kaliya Lincoln (USA/LSU) 13.166
    7. Louis Blanco (Columbia/Alabama) 12.166
    8. Aurelia Tran (Canada/Iowa) 12.133

Kayla DiCello improved on her team beam score last Sunday from 13.066 to 13.800 today. From my point of view, Kayla did better than expected.

Kayla will close out the Pan Am women's gymnastics performing in the floor final. There will be a clear top 4 with Kayla in the 4 fighting for the Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals.

Floor is the specialty of Kaliya Lincoln (USA/LSU). She is favored to win the Gold Medal, so we'll see how she stands up to the pressure of being the front runner. She will have to hold off Kayla DiCello along with 2 Brazilians, Saraiva Flavia and Julia Soares.

Kayla DiCello won the Silver Medal for floor finals. She finished in a second-place tie with Saraiva Flavia (Brazil) who also won a Silver Medal. The 4th place finisher was Julia Soares (Brazil), but I don't think she received a Bronze Medal as she was listed as 4th in the official results.

The Gold Medal winner was the favorite going in, Kaliya Lincoln (USA/LSU) who won by .500 of a point.

I can tell you two things to look for in the 2024 NCAA season:

    1. LSU is loaded. Zoe Miller won the Gold on bars and will anchor the LSU bars team. Kaliya Lincoln will do the same on floor. LSU line ups will be loaded from top to bottom. LSU is probably the only team that can stop Oklahoma from winning a third straight national championship.

    2. There were 3 Iowa gymnasts on Team Canada. Look for the Hawkeyes to have a good season in the B1G.

CGN's Most Impactful in 2024 Coming Off Injuries:

The 9 Most Impactful Injury Returners for 2024 - College Gym News

Apparently, CGN has written off Morgan Hurd. We'll find out soon enough. I'd like to think Morgan can be successful in the three events not named uneven bars as she has been coping with elbow injuries including elbow surgery in early May.

Recruiting Update on 2025 5-star Gymnasts:

    5-Stars Committed:

    1. Kamila Pawlak - Oklahoma
    2. Mackenzie Estep - Oklahoma
    3. Jasmine Cawley - Alabama
    4. Nina Ballou - LSU
    5. Allison Cucci - Arkansas
    6. Jocelyn Sasson - Florida
    7. Avery King - Arkansas
    9. Madelyn Dorbin - Florida
    10. Myli Lew - Michigan

    5-Stars Uncommitted:

    8. Sophia Diaz
    11. Tiana Sumanasekera
    12. Azaraya Ra-Akbar
    13. Paloma Spiridonova

The dance cards are filling out. Both Arkansas and LSU are putting together excellent 2025 classes.

UF is sitting with the two 5 stars who committed on the same day in early October. Known visitors since then have all landed elsewhere.

The remaining uncommitted 5 star who I'm familiar with is Tiana "T" Sumanasekera. She is on the women's national team, and she competed in the Pan Am Games earlier this week. Her potential is off the board. I hope CJR can bring her in for a visit.

Insofar as scores goes, Sophia Diaz looks like a good all-arounder. LSU fan talks about this girl a lot so there is smoke for a second 5 star commit to LSU.

To my knowledge, none of the remaining 5 stars has yet to visit UF.

Looks like Tiana "T" Sumanasekera's first visit post Pan Am Games was to California, at least the leotard looks to be Cal.

Tiana Sumanasekera (@tianasumanasekera) • Instagram photos and videos

That's a new picture to her Instagram account.

I suspect T will end up on the west coast, but I hope CJR can get her in for a Florida visit. The future of women's college gymnastics is the SEC, not the PAC 12.

I do not believe Class of 25 gymnasts can sign until November of 24.
