I'm satisfied with YouTubeTV. 85 channels, I think, including local channels and all the ESPN related channels except ESPN+, which I'm refusing to pay extra for. Saving a lot over what we had been paying for DISH.

Man, that sucks. b1g+ seems to not be included with any streaming service, but a per-school $10/month subscription. Ridiculous. IMO, UF shouldn't participate in events that are exclusively on media that requires extra subscriptions. Why do we need to perform at Nebraska?

College Gym News - The Dismount - Week 9:

The Dismount: Week 9 - College Gym News

Oklahoma Posts Best NQS Ever in Gymnastics

This Sooner squad is in its own tier. On the heels of a double-meet weekend (198.650 at home, 198.300 at Texas Woman’s), Oklahoma is sitting at a historic 198.420 NQS. The number it posted on Sunday is a drop score. Audrey Davis was perfect on bars (more on that below), and Ragan Smith notched her fourth-in-a-row 10 on beam.

It’s worth noting that the Sooners’ three best numbers (program-record 198.675, 198.650, 198.450) all came at home, but that hardly feels relevant when their top away number and fourth-best score (198.375) is a mere tenth behind the top score put up by any other team in the nation.

LSU posted a 198.475 at home on February 2, and California scored a 198.400 at UCLA on February 25. No other team in the NCAA has scored as high as Oklahoma’s fourth-best score. That is almost unbelievable, but the quality of gymnastics is undeniable. The Sooners look unstoppable.

California Overtakes LSU at No. 2, Gators Lurk at No. 4

The race for No. 2 continues between the Tigers and Golden Bears. Cal put up a 198.100 at home to top conference rival Utah—and to take a share of the regular season Pac-12 crown—and it was enough to push the team past LSU for No. 2 despite the Tigers’ 198.325 at home to top Alabama. LSU has yet to score a 198 on the road, which is hampering its NQS.

California and LSU look like the biggest threats to the Sooners’ three-peat hopes, but a steadily improving Florida is lurking just behind them. The Gators have improved in every meet this season, and a 198.225 on the road at Kentucky was enough to leapfrog Florida over Utah into No. 4, boosting its NQS by 0.165.

SEC Freshman of the Week (Week 9):

    Freshman of the Week
    Anya Pilgrim • Florida
    Fr. • Germantown, Md.

Florida’s Anya Pilgrim, a freshman from Germantown, Md., finished second in the all-around with a score of 39.675 in the win at No. 6 Kentucky. Pilgrim earned a share of first place on the floor exercise with her 10.0 and a share of second place on the balance beam with a 9.95. She also recorded a 9.90 on the uneven bars and a 9.825 on vault to record to highest all-around score among the nation’s freshmen this season.

It's looking like Anya is the leading contender for both SEC and National Freshman of the Year Awards.

Anya has won the SEC Freshman of the Week 4 consecutive times and 5 overall. Closest competition for Anya in the SEC is Lily Smith of Georgia who has won the award 3 times.

Representing Barbados in international competitions has delivered to UF the equivalent of a sophomore.

I haven't seen it mentioned yet, but I'm wondering if Barbados is going to invite Anya to represent them in the Paris Olympics. She last represented Barbados in the 2023 World Championships.

I started a post on the NCAAs last week and then found myself over my head. I should have waited to let College Gym News take care of it for me. Post season regionals and bubble teams:

Bubble Watch: March 6 - College Gym News

Keep in mind a lot can change over the next 3 meets:

Let’s start with a postseason bracket projection based on current standings, attempting to take geography into account. With the current rankings, there are two hosting conflicts among the top 16 seeds, so we switched No. 7 Michigan with No. 8 Michigan State and No. 11 Denver with No. 12 Arkansas. Teams in bold are located within 400 miles of a host site, so we have placed them accordingly (geography does not matter for the top 16 seeds). The remaining teams were placed using a mixture of geography and conference alignment (no more than four conference members at each location) while attempting to keep the playing field as level as possible.

Note: While official rankings are released each Monday, we are using unofficial NQS rankings following the March 4 BYU at Southern Utah meet throughout this article.

    Ann Arbor Berkeley Fayetteville Gainesville
    1. Oklahoma 2. California 3. LSU 4. Florida
    7. Michigan 8. Michigan State 6. Kentucky 5. Utah
    9. Alabama 10. UCLA 12. Arkansas 11. Denver
    16. Oregon State 15. Ohio State 14. Auburn 13. Missouri
    23. Penn State 18. Arizona State 19. Arizona 17. Minnesota
    24. Illinois 22. Stanford 21. N.C. State 20. Georgia
    28. Ball State 26. Boise State 27. Nebraska 25. Washington
    31. Kent State 30. Southern Utah 29. BYU 31. Clemson
    35. Iowa State 33. San Jose State 36. Iowa 34. Towson

College Gym News - The Mount - Week 10 Predictions:

The Mount: Predictions, Picks, and Other Things to Know Ahead of Week 10 - College Gym News

Slow week, there are no top 10 matchups. Every team will be working on improving their NQS scores.

The closest we get to a top 10 matchup is 1 Oklahoma at 12 Arkansas:

    Oklahoma at Arkansas
    Sunday, March 10 at 5 p.m. ET | SECN+
    Prediction: 99.73% Oklahoma, 0.27% Arkansas

I'm surprised OU isn't predicted at 100%, would be a heckuva upset if it happens.

Interesting they mentioned resting Wong. Might not be a bad idea. It'll be interesting to see the lineups this week.

I hope not on the rest. CJR is on record for improving .1 more every meet. Resting athletes doesn't make it easy to reach that goal.

Oklahoma performed twice last week, Friday and Sunday, scoring well north of 198 both times. Kindler doesn't coddle her athletes and I hope Rowland won't coddle ours.

In regionals and nationals, UF will be performing twice in a week with a 1-day break. Performing once a week is not too much. The remaining season is down to 7 possible meets including regionals and nationals. I hope UF makes the most of every meet. It'll take that to be within striking distance of a national championship.

If you noticed in the article, Oklahoma was computer graded to be able to compete up to 198.900:

Additional notes about the predictions: Could we be on 199 watch this season? Our simulations show a max possible score of 198.900 for the Sooners, so it’s seeming more and more possible.

With .1 improvement, the Gators will be right there with the sooners when it counts most, the national finals. The continued improvement starts this Saturday at Nebraska.

BTW, the reasons we don't have any gymnastics to watch this week are the meets are on pay sites, not televised, or on the PAC 12 Network. The women's basketball conference championships are getting priority. Next week, it'll be the men's basketball conference championships. Oklahoma at Arkansas is on SEC Network+ on Sunday afternoon.

Streaming Tip for the Gainesville Regional:

The regional is set for Thursday, April 4 through Sunday, April 7. The meet will be exclusively shown on ESPN+. I know all here will want to watch the Gators home regional even if having to complain about paying for a month of ESPN+. The tip for you is to sign up for ESPN+ tomorrow and then make sure you cancel so there will only be a one-month charge for ESPN+. This way you get to enjoy a full month of ESPN+ sports concluding with the Gainesville Regional. Cost:

    $10.99 One-Month Subscription
    +$1.49 Tax/Fee
    $12.48 Total Cost

Again, don't forget to cancel as ESPN+ will automatically keep charging by the month if you don't cancel.

EDIT: Subscribed on the ESPN app which charged to my Amazon Prime account. I immediately cancelled the subscription once the purchase was confirmed by turning off automatic renewal. My ESPN+ ends on 4/8/2024 which covers all offerings on ESPN+ including the 4 women's gymnastics regionals. Total cost for 1 month = $12.48.
