College Gym News: The Mount - Week 6 Predictions

The Mount: Predictions, Picks, and Other Things to Know Ahead of Week 6 - College Gym News

If the piggies win both bars and beam, they will have a chance to upset the Gators:

"Additional notes about the predictions: Arkansas’s win percentage increases to 69% if it can post a higher score on both bars and beam. Bars is the more likely of the two events for this to happen, with this outcome occurring in one out of every four simulations. Maddie Jones will be a key contributor for Arkansas. Without her, its win percentage drops to only 9%".

If UF doesn't continue to improve, we could lose. I doubt Arkansas will have back-to-back embarrassing bad performances.

I like UF to win at 197.500+. Anything less could spell a loss. Home or away doesn't matter, the Gators are getting everybody's best shot. UF has to perform well expecting this in every meet.

CJR says the team is chipping the rock of improvement. From here out, the Gators had best take a hammer to the rock. The rest of our SEC schedule is capable of taking down the Gators for long awaited payback.

College Gym News: Week 5 Questions, Comments, and Concerns:

Questions, Comments, Concerns: Week 5 - College Gym News

I particularly like and agree with this:

    Bonus Comments:

"Michigan State joined Oklahoma and only Oklahoma as a team that has a 198-plus score this year that I consider real. Argue with the wall".

The Michigan State team I watched at Michigan last weekend is capable of competing with anyone in the nation including Oklahoma. Consistency may be the biggest concern as they have talent and depth.

Consistent improvement is the most important goal for this team. Hopefully they put last meet's finish behind them.

Thought Skylar's vault was scored too low. Great finish to the vault

She recovered well on the beam.

148.525 after beam. Could get a huge score tonight. Need to finish on floor.

    Not tonight they weren't

Other than Blakely this was a much better team effort for UF. Sloane was ok except for vault , but for UF to contend she has to be more productive everywhere

Like the Beatles said on Sgt. Pepper, "It's Getting Better All the Time!"
Very solid match. Arkansas had their worst score of the year and we had our best.

Same with Victoria Nguyen. They are both experienced gymnasts who have lots of talent. They need to be more consistent. I did hear that Victoria had been sick. But overall, excellent match.

Back-to-back bad weeks. It's hard to believe the piggie team we watched last night was once on the verge of breaking into the top 5.

In another SEC team with the same question though not as much as Arkansas, Alabama after giving UF their best shot in an upset win over UF has fallen far short of their capability over the last two week. I guess that is what happens when you get so high for UF and then deflate against Kentucky and Auburn. An NCAA finals team wouldn't deflate for two weeks in a row.

I thought Skylar's beam leadoff should have been a 9.000 instead of 9.875 too. I don't care where a gymnast is in the event lineup, they shouldn't be graded harder because they are in the leadoff position. I don't like the way judges score higher for similar routines as the event lineup moves forward.
