Jaxg8r, I’m by no means a gymnastics expert but I have been watching UF gymnastics pretty religiously for the past ten years or more. I try to take off my Orange and Blue glasses while I watch our opponent’s perform and while I didn’t see the LSU match that you refer to, I did see their first match against Ohio State. I have to admit that I was very impressed with LSU’s floor routines. All six performances were outstanding and I was impressed with the first girl as much as the last. Dunne performed and looked good. LSU’s floor routines were strikingly better than Ohio States, not surprisingly and allowed them to rally from two falls on beam to win the match by 0.2.

I’m looking forward to our match with LSU and hoping we get a fair shake from the judges since the match is in Gainesville. I missed the Auburn match so it will take me awhile to form an educated opinion on the Gators but after watching our first match it was pretty obvious that we will miss Trinity Thomas and Kayla DiCello, two of our three all stars, along with Wong from last season. Could still be a top five team depending on how the newcomers develop.

    We're #8! We're #8! We're #8!

After 2 weeks, no, I'm not surprised. I do hope the team gets better as the season progresses. Given the quality and depth of the SEC and Cal being a bit of a surprise to date, my #4 prediction for UF this season may have been rosy. I still expect us to reach nationals with the regional coming through Gainesville, but I just can't see UF in the finals at this time.

    Standings (roadtonationals.com)

    1. Oklahoma 198.025
    2. California 197.533
    3. LSU 197.417
    4. Arkansas 197.338
    5. Utah 197.333
    6. Alabama 197.292
    7. Kentucky 197.283
    8. Florida 197.213

Oh, and I'm waiting for someone to grade out OU's 198.325 like they did LSU's 198.125. Don't hold your breath! The season is predestined to be Oklahoma and the 7 dwarfs.

Can't let LSU get in the way. I'm a bit surprised these same people haven't taken a shot at Cal which tells me the Golden Bears aren't considered to be in the same threat class to OU as LSU.

I apologize for being so negative. I want to assure you it has nothing to do with UF gymnastics. I'm just disgusted with what is going on in college gymnastics judging and the high possibility that gymnastics politics is involved in the meets to a higher degree than usual.

I expect we'll steadily move up, but probably not get into the top 3-4. IMO, it'll be a great year if we make it to the semifinals.

I think you are right; both about judging and this Gator team. The only thing I might add is that we have a very high ceiling but lots of inconsistencies. It would take great timing and a lotaluck to get there.

I can't believe how I'm feeling the need to defend LSU. Tiger fan darn sure would not do the same if our situations were reversed.

Agree. This week's meet with Alabama will be a good test of our mettle in a tightly-contested event. With the home crowd, our ladies will be fired up and it will give them a lot of confidence to score well and win the match. Really looking forward to it.

Finally, somebody wrote about judging and the Tennessee Collegiate Meet with all four teams making all-time highs and the D3 team making an all-time high D3 record:

NCAA gymnastics Week 3: LSU and OU reign, but judging dominates the conversation (msn.com)

Ball State had a home meet on Monday night and scored 196.600.

Still waiting for someone to grade Oklahoma and treat them like they did LSU in their week 3 performances and still not holding my breath. I expect Oklahoma to get preferential treatment every week from the judges and the media surrounding collegiate gymnastics. The fact is LSU was questioned in their judging and no one has done the same with Oklahoma. No, the Sooners aren't Supergirl gymnasts, but they are being treated that way.

From the bottom of the article, key week 4 meets:

    Key meets in Week 4:

Friday: LSU at Missouri; 6:30 p.m. ET on SEC Network
Friday: Alabama at Florida; 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2
Friday: Georgia at Kentucky; 7 p.m. ET
Friday: Denver at Oklahoma; 8 p.m. ET on ESPN+
Friday: Auburn at Arkansas; 8 p.m. ET on SEC+
Friday: Arizona State at Utah; 8 p.m. ET on Pac-12 Network
Saturday: Michigan at Nebraska; 4 p.m. ET on B1G+
Saturday: Oregon State at California; 5 p.m. ET on Pac-12 Network
Saturday: Washington at UCLA; 9 p.m. ET on Pac-12 Network

College Gym News - The Dismount: Recap Week 3:

The Dismount: Week 3 - College Gym News

NO BALLS! Nobody is willing to review and call out Oklahoma's 198.325. I applaud CGN's recognition that change MUST be made to judging to keep this a sport instead of a beauty contest, but for crying out loud, do the research on the top score of the week provided by the out-of-control judges.

    From Dr. Sam's Repost:

Bart Conner on X: "Although the gymnastics code of points (rulebook) could use a few tweaks, the real problem is that many college gymnastics judges simply don’t or won’t apply the current rules that exist!" / X (twitter.com)

Hey Bart, how about you and Kathy stop pushing Oklahoma as if they are Supergirls. With your Bart Connor Gymnastics Academy located in Oklahoma, take your nose out of Oklahoma's rear end. Judging is bad and you should be doing more in broadcasts to point out the judging rot. The sport deserves better and so do we the viewers who see what is going on.

Horrible Vault rotation from Florida. 1 fall and Feris nearly fell on her butt.

It was not horrible. You can see the potential of Ferris who is coming back from injury. The other four were spectacular and this event has been majorly upgraded from last year.
