Florida freshman Kayla DiCello earned her first 10 during the Gators’ rout against Missouri. Florida’s Trinity Thomas has 24 career 10s, four shy of the national record

Posted a very solid road score though. You can't control what the other guys get..just have to take care of business. This "loss" will not damage our ranking much, if any.

Florida had a couple of last minute changes in Vault line-up and struggled on the landings. Trin's 9.925 was their highest score. On Bars Victoria had big deduction when her feet dragged on ground while transitioning from high to low bar so they had to count Sloan's score of 9.75. Trin scored another 9.975. VT 49.350 and Bars 49.425 which was the lowest score of the season for the nation's top UB team. Lots of hops on the landings really hurt us. LSU lead by .200 at halfway mark. But in the final 2 rotations, Florida looked awesome. The Trin 10 Countdown inched a little closer to the magic 29 after her perfect 10.0 on Beam-without controversy! No wobble and she stuck her landing. Friday will be Trinity's last meet performing in the O'Dome for the Gators:emoji_disappointed::emoji_disappointed_relieved::emoji_cry:. In a tight meet on the road in front of a sell-out SEC crowd, our gymnasts showed true grit and were one LSU mistake away from stealing the meet. Give credit to LSU for keeping their nerves in-check to hold on. Our Floor 49.575 and Beam 49.625. Wong looked a little tired. Her AA score was only 49.475- .275 below her average. If she had scored her average of 39.700, we win comfortably. DiCello has been a star for Jenny! Her AA was 39.700. And the AA winner of the meet with a massive 39.850 was our TRINITY!! 198.100-197.975 was the final score. It was our highest road score and by far LSU's top score so far. Our floor scores have improved drastically. Beam is showing resolve. Not a single fall from all 6 the whole season. Utah and us have the best Beam line-up. We are the top UB team and top 3 Floor team. Vault- well hopefully Baumann returns soon. Her only vault this season was a 9.90. She has a 10.0 start value. As does Savannah. Questions are: when Savannah's foot heals and if she is able to train back to post-season form. These two are the missing pieces in the Vault line-up. Imagine if they had been healthy all season...:emoji_thinking:I wonder if Savannah could redshirt? This is her COVID year, but if she misses the season, is she eligible to redshirt? I know there are other gymnasts who are in their 6th season- redshirt and COVID- most notably Lynzee Brown of Denver.
LSU should celebrate this win. Because they won't beat us again this year- not SECs or Nationals.

No. 12 Kentucky at No. 2 Florida

Florida cannot catch Oklahoma this weekend and has no chance to remove that road 197.3 while at home on Friday. With Michigan competing on both Friday and Monday, Florida could be vulnerable to losing the #2 ranking this week, even with a season high.
Kentucky experienced that classic NQS conundrum this week where you score an all-time program record and lose a spot in the rankings. You know that. But, heading to Florida on Friday, Kentucky will now have a chance to get rid of a lower road 196 and do some actual ranking damage. It’ll take a SCORE score, a 197.625 to guarantee moving ahead of Oregon State, but that will be the aim.

Florida should handle Kentucky, and if that happens, the Gators will earn their fifth consecutive SEC regular season title. A loss would have the Gators watching the results of next weekend’s SEC meets to see if at least a share of the title is possible.
You Can Fast Forward, but not Through This:
Trinity Thomas has 25 perfect 10s to her name, putting her in sole possession of third in NCAA history; she is three away from tying Jamie Dantzscher and Jenny Hansen for the most with 28. That said, this meet will be her final performance in the O’Dome, so expect at least a couple 10s to go flying.

7:30pm No. 14 Georgia at No. 7 Auburn SECN
Auburn went with a semi-resting meet away against Missouri on Sunday that, coupled with some mistakes, produced a season low and non-counting score and suddenly put Auburn in some ranking trouble. LSU and Alabama both have higher maximum NQSs than Auburn this week, which means Auburn could score a season high against Georgia on Friday and still drop out of the top 8 if LSU and Alabama both go crazy.
NQS is Georgia’s best friend right now, the switchover coinciding with a 5-spot ranking gain compared to last week. Friday’s visit to Auburn will provide another opportunity to get rid of a lower 196, and Georgia will have its sights set on its first road 197 in three years, which would keep UGA ahead of Missouri.

Georgia is surging, jumping five spots in the national rankings and leap-frogging Arkansas and Missouri to claim the No. 5 spot in the SEC thanks to the shift to NQS. More pertinently, it outscored Auburn by nearly a point in Week 7 (granted, the GymDogs were at home while the Tigers were testing depth on the road, but it’s still unexpected). This meet is shaping up to be a lot closer than it might have been expected to be to start 2023.
You Can Fast Forward, but not Through This: Olympic champion Sunisa Lee is coming off of an uncharacteristic fall on beam against Missouri, so odds are she’s going to be exceptional this week. You also won’t want to miss the back halves of either team’s floor rotations: Auburn’s Derrian Gobourne and Georgia’s Soraya Hawthorne are neck and neck in the national rankings.

8:00pm No. 8 LSU at No. 9 Alabama
LSU is among the most dangerous lurkers of the week. They’ll be going away to Alabama while holding a droppable road score in the 196s and a maximum NQS of 197.600, which is not that far behind the maximums for UCLA and Cal—and higher than Auburn’s maximum. With a 197.625 on Friday, LSU would guarantee passing Auburn regardless of what Auburn scores.
Alabama’s NQS currently sits a step behind the top 8, but with two 196s still to get rid of, Alabama is beginning to look quite dangerous to knock one of those teams out. If Alabama goes 197.800+ against LSU on Friday, that would clinch a spot ahead of Auburn in the top 8 in next Monday’s rankings.

These two teams have scratched and clawed their way up the rankings, after thoroughly rocky starts, to join the exclusive 198 club. LSU is riding high after upsetting Florida last week while Alabama picked off Auburn two weeks ago. Both teams have the grit and talent to cause further chaos in the rankings, but they’ll have to get through each other first.
Update: On Wednesday, LSU announced that sophomore vault and floor specialist KJ Johnson is out indefinitely due to a broken foot and that senior Alyona Shchennikova is questionable for Friday’s meet due to a groin injury.
LSU sophomore Aleah Finnegan is on an unbelievably hot streak, earning 10s on three separate events in three consecutive meets. Can she do the unthinkable and finish her first Gym Slam on the road with a bars 10 in Tuscaloosa?
What Else to Know Before Tuning in: There are fairly significant stakes at play: The SEC championship is only a couple of weeks away, and Kentucky is within striking distance of a spot in the evening session. Both the Tigers and the Crimson Tide are currently counting sub-197s and can’t afford an off meet.

8:00pm West Virginia at Oklahoma ESPN+
Oklahoma debuted in the NQS rankings with 198.105, which already ranks as the 5th-best NQS in college gymnastics history, behind Oklahoma, Florida, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma. By scoring a 198.125 this weekend, Oklahoma would set a new all-time NQS high—with four meets still remaining to continue improving on it.

    8:00pm No. 6 California at No. 4 Utah P12N
Monday’s loss to Arizona State produced a counting score but not the total Utah was looking for, meaning that Utah is now locked into using a 197.750 road number, lower than the bold road scores of the three teams ranked ahead. The bright side for Utah is that there’s still a very droppable 197.275 here, poised to fall out the moon door at Friday’s meet against Cal. If everything goes just right, Utah could move as high as 2nd this week, but with a lower maximum NQS than Florida or Michigan, that’s not in Utah’s hands. At very minimum, Utah needs a 197.550 this week to make sure UCLA can’t do anything.
Cal was also able to use the 197.975 on Saturday to move ahead of Auburn and drop a mid-196 from early in the season. With a lower maximum NQS than UCLA this week, Cal will be dependent on UCLA’s score for any chance to move up but will mostly be looking for a big road number at Utah to help hold onto #6. A 197.900 would do that for sure and would also give Cal a more competitive road score on the slate.
Two top 10 teams in the thick of the national and Pac-12 conference races face off with Utah hosting California. The Utes enter needing a momentum-shifting win after a loss in their first meet without Grace McCallum last weekend, while the Golden Bears could use a big road boost after only tying with the rest of the teams in the top half of the conference.
What We’re Watching: Freshman eMjae Frazier tied California’s best all-around mark ever with a 39.700 last week, and we should expect a stellar showdown between her and fellow rookie Makenna Smith from Utah who has stepped into competing on four events to replace McCallum. Vault has been a make-or-break event for both teams recently, and with both showing four 10.0 start values, this matchup could come down to who takes the advantage on the leg events.

8:00pm B1G 5 Session 1: No. 3 Michigan, No. 20 Iowa, No. 21 Maryland, No. 23 Illinois, and No. 31 Penn State BTN
Michigan’s planned meet against Nebraska last week was canceled and rescheduled for Monday, meaning Michigan will head to Nebraska and compete for two road scores in the coming days, providing a huge opportunity to drop the 196.975 and the 197.400. On Friday, Michigan’s goal score will be 197.975, which would ensure moving ahead of Florida regardless of what Florida scores. But if it doesn’t happen then, there will be another chance on Monday.
Michigan is a heavy favorite to win, but we’ll be looking at a three-way battle between Illinois, Iowa, and Maryland for second place. If any of those teams make a mistake, they’ll be giving their rivals room to move past them in both the meet placements and potentially in the conference standings. Penn State also can’t be counted out, with some mid-196s on the year. Placement here matters in seeding for the conference championship night session. No team has mathematically clinched a night session berth. Michigan sits at a comfortable 3-1. Iowa, Illinois and Maryland could ride high placements into the top four.
What We’re Watching: Maryland has been a dark horse in the Big Ten this season, but the Terrapins are starting to show some real potential. They lost by just under two tenths to Minnesota, and they put up a huge 49.450 on floor. This team is definitely a threat.
What Else to Know Before Tuning in: This is a neutral-site meet for these teams, so a big number could be huge for NQS. Illinois and Penn State could both use a good away score, so they’ll be hoping to put up some of their best routines of the year.

    9:00pm Missouri at Arkansas SECN
Missouri finally got its 197 this week, which was an important step in the quest to stay in the top 16. Missouri’s max NQS is not as high as Ohio State’s or Georgia’s this week, so any chance to move up will depend on them, but Missouri will still need a big one to try to stay in the top 16 since Arkansas has a huge chance to move up this week and MSU has meets on Saturday and Monday and scores to drop.
The balance beam situation at Kentucky dumped Arkansas out of the top 16 for the week, but Arkansas does still have a 195 to get rid of and a higher maximum NQS than Georgia, Missouri, or Southern Utah this week. It would take 196.650 to guarantee moving ahead of SUU, 197.050 for Missouri, and 197.350 to ensure moving ahead of all three.

This is our weak link. Our season top score is 49.425. If we can't improve this score in post-season, we won't win NCAA title.
