IMHO, Gators would still be waiting on Webb if Stokes hadn’t been offered or hadn’t committed.

No. Jax is a very close knit football community. The leaders on those teams all know each other.

IDK because it almost hinges on McClain. But outside of him, I just took a look at 247 and they have us 21st as of this very moment but the only teams behind us who's recruited better or on our level recently that could pass us are Michigan, Texas A&M, and Auburn.

Look at the teams ranked 10th to 20th; only Bama, USCw, Oregon, and Oklahoma realistically are ahead of us because the other teams have loaded up with 3*'s and are only high now because of the number not the quality of recruits they have.

    10th - Arky 22 commits and 88 player average

    13th - Baylor 22 commits 87 player average

    14th - UofL 14 commits 91 player average

    15th - Cincy 20 commits 87 player average

    16th - TT 23 commits 87 player average

18th NW with 20 commits 87 player average

    19th - Iowa 17 commits 87 player average

Let's put UF ahead of all of them because that IS going to happen, we're 14th at the worst. Let's say 15th because we KNOW Texas A&M is going to heat up something serious. We'd have to lap 5 teams to even be 10th so, idk.

I really think if UF gets 3-4 top 100 players, they'll have a top 10 class.

NIL may push us from about 5 to 15 or so. 15 with mostly Florida kids and relationships with Florida high schools is strong for the future.

The biggest problem with NIL may end up being fans who see a top 5 class turn in to 15 and can never stop whining about it and insist we outspend all others to compete for championships.

I guess I’ll be a doing some whining if 15th is our future.

Not so sure it's going to come down to top 100 players. I can see a scenario where UF gets 17 or 18 four star prospects. Here's a group of players who are considered leans to UF.

    McLain .9992
    Mizell .9472
    James .9112
    Norman .9365
    Sorey .9269
    Castell .9187
    Jackson .9086

That's an average ranking of .9354. We might miss on a few but I think at least five of them end up in the '23 class.

Here's another group of prospects who are less than 50% likely to UF. We could get one or two of these depending on what the first group does.

    Collins .9684
    LeBlanc .9634
    Walker .9537
    Hall .9336

If the Gators get seven or eight out of that group of 11, it would be a historic number of four star prospects. I don't think we've ever had more than 14. I'm guessing at least one of the current three star commits will get a bump, probably Whittemore once he starts putting up numbers as a WR.

What's most promising about this strategy is that the coaches avoid a lot of the prospects who would demand the most lucrative NIL deals.

    Thoughts?

That's what an army of analysts and a plan following analytics does for you. I think we will be really good in a couple years.

I looked at the same numbers you are, and I'm not concerned about recruiting for 2023. this group of verbals is strong group from a ratin standpoint, as it also appears it will from the group that has not yet announced.....and there is outstanding Florida representation with group as well!

I think Meyer had 20 or more 4 or 5 star recruits in 3 classes: 2006, 2008 and 2010. (a whopping 22), so not historic but very good.

Great posts this page HOWEVER -
So, ASSUME, UF gets to #10 -

When the SEC shakes out where does #10 get UF. as compared to the rest of the SEC?

    Isn't that of paramount importance?

I understand things are VERY different now, but at the end of the day - IF UF is #10, and 4 - 5 SEC schools are AHEAD of UF, during the BUMP YEAR, when Central Florida and UF's traditional recruiting area is absolutely LOADED..........uhhhhh what has UF really gained?

    Start explaining that to me..............

Tenth should get us the tenth most talented roster and all coaching being equal, we should finish tenth. Outside edge of ny6? Clemson won a ship that way and it’s possible but unlikely. I don’t care as far as where we are in sec as we have to beat them all anyway. Anything better than 10th and Napier has outdone himself as far as gameday. If we expect to consistently compete in the sec, top 5 is absolutely necessary. 10th means , don’t get your hopes up. If we have the tenth best payroll, expect the tenth best team. That would probably make us 4-6 in the sec

    Am new to this board.
Seems to me as if top tier kids are not buying into Napier, appears as if they need to see on field results.
If that is correct, are we hurting our cause by going after top level talent against Kirby, Saban, Cristobal.
Perception is reality and every loss to those coaches may hurt us with future recruits, it’s certainly hurting us with 2023 recruits.
