America was founded because “Christians” suck at governing without harassing or murdering people.

When I see people say “America is a Christian nation” to defend theocratic ideals in govt, I know I am speaking to a person ignorant of or who has lost the plot of our history or that has some sick fundamentalist ideology. Yes, America was founded mostly by Christians. Christians who had to flee for their lives from other Christian’s. Religious persecution committed by “Christians” against “Christians”. That gave these early settlers and the founding fathers the eventual foresight to keep matters of church and state separate (but not before some imported Christian lunacy hit here in America. See: Salem Witch Trials). Just look at the idiocy of our state govt, which at this point is but a small taste of the future dysfunction.

The defense that this is not an attack by a real Christian reminds me of the supposedly true story when Slapsie Maxie Baer, a/k/a Max Baer, heavyweight fighter with a sense of humor and Jethro's father, was fighting the great Joe Louis.

Max was getting beaten badly but he had an iron chin so somehow he was still standing. In his corner between rounds, one of his corner men, seeking to inspire him, told him words the effect of "Don't worry Maxie - he hasn't hit you yet", to which Max replied with words the effect of "better check the referee then, because someone out there is beating the hell out of me."

Defenders keep telling those who seek a pluralistic Nation true to the 14th Amendment that they're not getting hit by true Christians. Maybe so. I don't believe those people in any way try to live up to the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth.

But somebody out there is beating the hell out of anyone they deem a threat, and they're calling themselves Christians. So I think that those who want a country that actually lives up to its stated Constitutional values could be forgiven for wanting to duck within arms length of those in the political arena that seek to set policy as "Christians".

Because someone's beating the hell out of us, and they're calling themselves Christians and saying they are administering the beatings in the name of Jesus.

First president since Roe v Wade to have two straight years of abortion rate increases. Praised for his work on abortion?

Yes. Granted it was undone by Biden.

We have a long ways to go when it comes to protecting the most innocent. And Trump was on that side when it comes to policy.
