If I am not mistaken Chipper's father went to Stetson. He was a good high school prospect who had good offers to sign a pro contract. He opted out to go to college and play ball there. After college he was not getting those good offers. Thus he advised his son to sign after he completed his high school years.
Chipper went straight to the minor league Greenville Braves, not Atlanta. That's a fact and ì know that because i got his autograph at the old Tinker Field in Orlando when they played the Orlando Twins. I still have the ball too. Fun fact!
If one is a first round pick out of high school in baseball, it would be beyond foolish to go the college route. If an MLB teams invests a first round pick in you, you will most likely get the best development possible with none of the bullshit that comes from and with some college coaches.
Not a fan. We go to church with some of his immediate family and they are some of the kindest people on earth. He got zero of that. DK that is.
The guy is a perpetual 13 year old. Always amazed at how unapologetically immature and petty he is. I can't think of one comparison that continues to have a platform in sports. He embarrasses himself every year with zero self reflection or growth.
I hope this is somehow posted in the locker room as fuel for next Saturday night. DK should shut his pie hole.
Nowadays the #1 overall pick can live off the signing bonus if he is good with his money. The top 5 picks get around $10M and even the last pick in the first round got $2.7M as a signing bonus before ever facing or throwing a pitch.
