I just tried to look it up an honestly I can’t read governmentese at the necessary level. The batteries have requirements as do the percentage of parts. Max income and max cost also comes into play. It read as if they didn’t want anyone to be able to figure it out without paying an expert. lol

I am actually reading an econ paper about it. The key to this paper is analyzing the fact that as of 1/1/24, the credit became transferrable to licensed vehicle dealerships at the time of sale. This allows the consumer to immediately reduce the price of the car rather than wait to offset their tax liability. They are seeing how this affects consumer behavior. Super boring.

Saw a sharp looking Polestar EV the other day. Swedish designed but owned by a Chinese company as I recall. Not cheap tho.

If you want to get a Tesla Model 3 cheap, you might think about renting one from Hertz, and then asking what they would sell it for. Hertz realized that the Tesla's were not as popular with customers as they thought, so they are looking to unload a bunch of them. One person received a price of $18k on a 2023 Model 3 with 30k miles (about half the price of new).

Hertz Is Dumping Teslas For Super Cheap

PSA: If anyone is thinking about doing this, make certain directly with Tesla that the full factory warranties, both bumper to bumper and on the battery, apply. Two potential issues are the cars being used as rental cars and the very significant likelihood that the vast majority of charging has been to 100% of battery capacity.
