Chief Justice Roberts’ Wife Is Latest Supreme Court Spouse To Spark Ethics Concerns

Just another day in paradise corruption----

Jane Sullivan Roberts, a legal recruiter, has earned “millions” in commissions for recruiting attorneys for jobs at law firms, which include firms that have cases before the Supreme Court, her former colleague Kendal Price said, according to a letter obtained by the Times.
Price provided records to the federal government showing commissions the justice’s wife earned between 2007 and 2014, and asked for an inquiry into the matter, arguing it should be mandatory for justices to disclose information about their spouses’ work.
The chief justice has never recused himself from a case due to his wife and does not disclose her clients or earnings on financial disclosures, according to the Times, only reporting her salary but not commissions—but Price argued that’s misleading, as commissions “depend on cultivating and capitalizing on relationships in order to consummate particular deals.”

Welcome to 'dystopia' and the guardians of free market capitalism. Apparently, the Constitution does not speak to SCOTUS corruption and is therefore none of their concern.

I'd like to know a little more. She is a top legal recruiter. Millions over 7 years, could mean she made like 275K a year - an expected sum for a top recruiter in a top place working for top firms. And more importantly, what was she making before?

Even if her income hasn't changed, this is still shady AF. But some context would be helpful. I feel it's missing

While there is a lot of competition my vote still goes to Clarence Thomas.

While she may or may not have acted improperly, the standard is or at least should be avoiding even the appearance of impropriety and based on that standard Thomas, Roberts and Gorsuch all fail.

No, but I don't think anyone is suggesting he be on the Supreme Court.

Meanwhile Nancy Pelosi and Maxine Waters among others buying and selling stocks impacted by legislation they vote on and not a peep out of the libbies. I wonder why the media always targets and investigates conservative justices only?

SCOTUS justices answer to no one. Congressmen and Senators can be voted out.

Ask any group of Dems and they would be more than happy to have laws that prevent stock trading by government officials in D.C.

I think the appearance of impropriety in this case involving Robert’s wife may play a large role in Robert’s stubbornness in refusing the congressional invitation to discuss SCOTUS ethics or to codify one himself.

All of congress profits off of their position. I say all but there may be one or two who don’t. We expect judges to be reasonably pure. In fact all but the Supreme Court need to fill out disclosure forms and are expected to recuse themselves if there is the appearance of an issue. The Supreme Court is not required to but all of this stinks to high heaven.

Pelosi punted on the bill and in the Senate there were GOP members that were against it

Every time some clown appears to break the law or takes advantage of their position of power, financially, you Leftists blame Capitalism, as if anything in communist or socialist countries is better. Strawman... logical fallacy.

These people are supposed to be the "guardians" of the Constitution... laws.
