It's not a solution but it plays very well to a certain segment of the electorate. By the way the same politicians and right-wing media celebrities have also been intentionally conflating asylum seekers who may remain in the country legally with undocumented immigrants who could be subject to deportation in relatively short order.
Getting back to the subject of this thread animosity by African-Americans towards immigrants, regardless of their status (i.e. legal, illegal or applicants for asylum) is nothing new. It goes back decades and is largely based on the belief that immigrants who are competing with Black Americans for same jobs would undercut wages as well as reduce the availability of jobs.
