Guess someone forgot to remind this Chicago citizen that the new residents are a net positive to Chicago. Based on that logic Chicago should be swimming in success and new money. This gentlemen seems to believe otherwise

Sounds like some would-be Democrats are now somewhat skeptical.

article from the Maga website VOX and their gaslighting ‘manufactured’ Border crisis

According to VOX, chicago and New York residents should ecstatic. Direct quote from article
    • Trump’s claim that immigration is a strain on the economy that would make Americans poorer is contrary to what economists have shown; immigration seems to raise wages for native-born workers while lowering pay for other immigrants.

Trump’s manufactured border "crisis" scares Republican voters — but not lawmakers

I think if the migrants were allowed to work and generate their own money then it would be a different story. I know some farmers in Florida that would be happy to have them

Is this more hate from the right ? So the sanctuary city thing polls well but when put into practice it seems local citizens aren’t too thrilled

Our immigration system needs reform asap, but dehumanizing asylum seekers isn’t a solution.

It's not a solution but it plays very well to a certain segment of the electorate. By the way the same politicians and right-wing media celebrities have also been intentionally conflating asylum seekers who may remain in the country legally with undocumented immigrants who could be subject to deportation in relatively short order.

Getting back to the subject of this thread animosity by African-Americans towards immigrants, regardless of their status (i.e. legal, illegal or applicants for asylum) is nothing new. It goes back decades and is largely based on the belief that immigrants who are competing with Black Americans for same jobs would undercut wages as well as reduce the availability of jobs. This is a summary of a journal article written over 15 years ago addressing that issue.
