Actually, a person can know that. You see, a college education teaches a person critical thinking, problem solving, and gives them the ability to know where to look for answers. In this case, Google. Google says people without a college degree make up 91% of the people living in poverty.

I have a college degree (and paid it off early) and there's a high percentage that I have made more than you. Just how things go, bub. Is that how this is done?

It's just funny to see you brag out of nowhere on a thread you started trying to put others down. Not unlike also trying to prove your point when it is a small percentage who succeeded going that route.

Congrats to you, but obviously they didn't teach modesty at your high school. College might have done the trick? Who knows? But no one wants to hear it, especially after you trash "educated libbies" when it need not apply.

Your snarkiness is just as bad as, and less professional, than the condescension you perceive you get. Must have been the lowly education. Did I do that right also?

Try to have more tact and maybe others will reciprocate and you wouldn't have to respond so horribly to them in defense at every turn.

Everyone has a different route. No one put yours down, but you sure laid out everyone else you didn't agree with.

Alot of this I can agree with. It took my snarky comments you get you there. How do you know you made a higher percentage? For the record if anybody has done better than me, I love it then, that's the American dream

I stand by that. If 91% of people in poverty don’t have a college degree it seems like an obvious conclusion — something any child could understand — that slum lord trailer parks are not filled with college grads. This is kind of deductive reasoning you might have learned if had gone to a good college.

Statistically, for every person in poverty you can find with a degree, I could find 10 people in poverty who don’t have a degree. But seriously, how many people do you know with a degree that are living in poverty? Or live with their parents into their 40s? For me, that number is zero. I do know a few adults without degrees that live with their parents, and would almost certainly be in poverty otherwise.

I'm happy for your success. There are many, many people who are successful that don't have college degrees. That seems particularly true for business owners. And again, having a degree doesn't make anyone better or smarter. It just means there are some potential avenues closed off unless and until that box is checked. Even in the military, where there are lots of different types of jobs and skill sets, the opportunities and pay ranges are different for the enlisted versus officers.

Having said that, I do think many young people who get degrees likely overvalue their degree relative to hard work that will be required once in the work force. Being good at taking tests isn't the same thing as grinding it out day to day with a focus.

In any event, we're talking about statistics and about giving advice to young people as a group. I personally think college makes a lot of sense but understand it's not for everybody. A young family member of mine was ambivalent about what to do after HS, and I told him I thought it makes sense to continue his education to keep his options open. If he decides not to finish the degree and starts a successful business, I'm not going to criticize him for that, but he doesn't even know what he wants to do yet.

Think of it this way, maybe: if someone were to point to data reflecting that kids do better when both parents are involved, would that data be undermined by someone telling you about a happy and well-adjusted kid whose father has been absent? There are always going to be counter-examples.

Thats not what I asked. Let's try again. What do you think is poverty? Without google or someone else helping you, come on for Gods sakes you're a UF Grad

I gave you the official US standards of what constitutes poverty. Why does it matter what I think it should be? These are facts. Do facts upset you?

Unsurprisingly, Charlie Kirk doesn't have a college degree and makes his money via right-wing grifter world. I welcome any "conservative" who thinks college is a scam to not pursue higher education.
