There's nothing wrong with not getting a degree, and it shouldn't be a measure of anyone's worth or self esteem. But a college degree is about more than what is learned in the class room. For example, it provides a tangible value in keeping more doors and options open for longer - a value that might be tougher to quantify than expected income. There are so many jobs which aren't even on the table without a college degree.

So what does your experience have to do with the overall stats that says a college degree, on average, is worth a million dollars more in life time earnings? Do you think it’s not possible that someone with a college degree has earned a million dollars more than you in their lifetime?

    • The great writer dropped out of his studies in between for starting his own business. In the year 2010, he stepped into politics by joining the Tea Party. After that, he became the volunteer for the US Senate campaign of Illinois. Two years later, he decided to do something different. That’s why in the year 2012, he opened an institute named “Turni...

Pushing kids to not go to college should hasten our descent into shit-hole country status, which likely means that it will become part of the Republican Party platform if it ever creates one.

$1.3 million in lifetime earnings from someone with only a high school diploma. $2.3 million in lifetime earnings for someone with a bachelor's degree.

Never owned my own business, but I have many friends who are small business owners, and they all put in more hours than I do on a weekly basis, and struggle more to take time off than I do as a salaried employee.

The "on average" part is important. Bill Gates never finished college. That doesn't mean that everyone who drops out to chase an idea will become rich. There are definitely many, many people who have become very wealthy through hard work rather than going to college. But on average, the college graduate will earn more and work less.

This. 100%. There are no guarantees in life. There are certainly people with a PhD living on the streets, and millionaire drop outs. But if you want better odds of making a good living, a college degree is a good investment. And as stated, some of the best college lessons happen outside the classroom. Can't put a price tag or a ROI on those lessons.

And just like everyone is not cut out for college, not everyone is cut out to own his/her own business. I'm happy and doing just fine being an employee. Have no desire to own my own business.

That is very true, but I worked my way up from the bottom of the company I worked for, all in charge had college degrees. I was passing them all in promotions, hint I knew how to make money they didn't

This was a fact, not just me but several others ended up helping run this company, not meant to take jabs at anyone, but the college grads didn't know how to manage, they really sucked at it. I was offered $150,000 to come back to the corporate world, I said no way
