I notice you avoided commenting when he called Fauci an "elf" and said how he wanted to chuck him across the Potomac. Was that the type of professional you want to become POTUS too?

Hmm, how is that different from how Trump would react to a critic? Belittling, petty, insulting, with just a hint of violence to it. Seems straight out of the Trump playbook.

Good grief. Its different in volume. Trump did it every time he talked

I mean the human gaff machine POTUS wr have now on the other side says his share of stupid stuff, but I dont consider it a hindering of his ability nor in the same ballpark as Trump.

He was screaming it out to the wild cheers of his supporters, much like Trump. So I guess you don't mean literal volume ;)

He will be doing a lot more of this sort of thing: this is what the Republican base wants, and he knows it. He is slowly trying to change his appearance and even his posture (seriously) to be like Trump over time. He knows that is his only path forward and I'm not sure that the guy who knows better but still does it is much better than the guy who lacks basic self control to the level that he likely doesn't know better.

You guys will hate any con. I get it. People here praise Romney, yet some of those same people absolutely used to rip him to shreds when he was a factor.

DeSantis is nowhere near Trump. It isn't even close.

DeSantis is very consistent in his nastiness too. He loves to humiliate people.

You were slow to understand how bad Trump was too. You'll eventually find out what so many of us already know.

No. I was slow to accept it. I regret that I knew it deep down and thought he would change once elected and justified it by thinking it was the lesser of two evils. I was just wrong and wish I had never voted for him the first time.

But I dont care about political bomb throwing. I do care about 3 time homewreckers and cheats that abuse women and treat them as playthings, but political bomb lobbing isnt new.

This sounds awfully like your dismissal of people telling you how bad Trump was when you rooted for him too. Think of it like this: if I gave you the elf quote but attributed it to Trump, would you have bought it coming from him and rolled your eyes about it and said that's why we don't need him?

He is out there backing people like Mastriano (who was at January 6) and Lake (who basically ran on overturning the 2020 election in Arizona). Do you think those are the actions of somebody who is going to try to change the Republican Party from the party of Trump?

Your governor responded to a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic just like basically every other governor and developed country did. I guess that makes us all tyrants.

It's not even remotely comparable to DeSantis repeatedly championing unconstitutional laws for no reason outside of his political gain. He has consistently pushed for laws that violate the First Amendment and chill free speech. He also has used his power to bully the LGBTQ community for no damn reason. And he pissed all over the Fair District Amendments.

You call it drama. I call you full of it. How do you sit here and make excuses for a guy who has used his power to repeatedly attack free speech? He's illiberal and anti-democratic. It saddens me that people like you have so little regard for free speech. I am one of the many people who have to spend their time putting out the fires that wannabe authoritarian starts. And you want to give that arsonist more gasoline and matches.

You're wrong now just like you were then. This isn't about political bomb throwing. DeSantis has no respect for the Constitution or free speech.
Federal judge blocks workplace training portion of DeSantis’ ‘Stop WOKE Act’
Florida anti-riot law struck down as unconstitutional to protesters
11th Circuit blocks major provisions of Florida’s social media law
Judge blocks Florida’s contribution cap limit on ballot initiatives
There were few takers for Florida's college and university viewpoint diversity survey, results show
Judge sides with University of Florida professors in academic freedom case
Florida's war on Disney violates First Amendment

What's it going to take for you to wake up? The fact that the courts so far are turning back DeSantis's relentless attacks on free speech should not justify you wanting to give that man a promotion and more power.

You talk about us hating "cons." I was mentored by "cons." I worked for "cons" in the past. What I can't stand are the post-Trump "cons" who see the government as a cudgel to use to bludgeon their political enemies and who think only their side deserves rights and freedom. These people are dangerous. They don't value democracy, the Constitution, or liberty.

It wasn't stupid. It is who he is. It represents his repeated disdain and ridicule of opposing opinions. DeSantis, from early years, has always considered himself the smartest guy in the room and anybody that couldn't see that was stupid. That has been well documented in stories going back to his college classmates. He treats opposition as worth of only scorn and ridicule. He is very much like Trump. Small, tight inner circle who continually feeds his narcisstic personality or gets excluded from the circle.

Give me Romney or Kasich all day long. These runs of pubs who just insult and belittle others will never get my vote. Why cant the pubs support someone who doesn’t try and bully others? Maybe you are too far away to see it but DeSantis is every bit as bad as Trump in his total lack of respect or empathy for anybody that disagrees with him
