If that's what you expect and you believe the first team ranking that we play 9 ranked teams, you should only expect 5 wins this year.

Lol... why not? The point is if we bring in one or two more players in the next portal window I hope we make them count. Is that such a bad thing to want? Lol... :D;)

Mertz was 7-6 at Wisconsin and was not impressive statistically, but he was a former five star recruit that CBN saw still had serious ability, and look how he performed last year. DJU was also a former five star recruit. It's all about the system and the coaching.

Now I agree with you, if he plays like he has so far in his career, FSU is not a very imposing opponent offensively.

The concern is him being a completely different player under Norvell.

You spend an odd amount of time defending fsu and their players.

Yes, Norvell crams 5 years of development into those one year loans. He is simply amazing.

I'm not following. Do you not agree Mertz was a languishing player before he got to us and how his play completely changed under different coaching?

I believe we should win more than 5 games. Who believes even 6 is a "success"?

No, I saw him in WI as a very good QB in a very bad system who needed playmakers around him to make a difference. FSU's qb is who he is. He has been underwhelming and inaccurate everywhere he has been. Norvell can't and won't fix that.

Who? Most are just asking for a winning season. We have lost the plot if that is considered "world beating."

Beat all non ranked, split with ranked. 7-5 or 8-4. It seems to get lost, but Florida should win their share of ranked match ups.

I kind of expect that can happen;however, if you are ranked below seven other teams you are just as likely to lose to a team below you for as many teams above you that you will beat, as long as that team isn't Samford.

I think success for me and CBN's job are 2 things. Success for me is winning 8 games and being competitive in all. Success for CBN in keeping his job is turning around the defense. He has enough talent to be at least middle of the pack in the SEC and defense does not take as long to turn around. If he fails it won't matter how fun or competent his offense or special teams looks.

I thought we have a competitive roster, ranked top 10. Yes, we have some youth, but is it really unrealistic to expect to win 7 with good coaching preparation, planning, game management? If not, seems unlikely that some experience for the younger players and another good class will make that much difference. If only 5 or 6 is acceptable this season, what's our ceiling, 7 or 8? Samford, A&M, Miss State, UCF, Kentucky, Tennessee. Should win 4 of that 6? If not, who can we beat?

Mertz was not a "very good quarterback" at Wisconsin. Not even close. His passer rating as a starter was 127.4. That's pretty much terrible.

He didn't look like a good QB until he got here.

Players get experience, they grow and mature, they practice and get stronger.

Coaching and scheme is not the end all, be all. Good athletes who want to be better keep working and improving despite the criticism from losers who pick them apart online.

You should watch his games instead of stats. Our OL looked like a dream last year compared to his OL at WI. They had zero run games. None.

I can't envision Wisconsin with a bad OL, but I'll take your word for it.

We got it tough but the rotation will eventually work its way through. Our out of conference s hedule is much tougher than most.

Good list, those in your 6,7, and 8 hole could almost be interchangeable.
