One thing will turn me completely pro-protest - the inevitable DeSantis press conference inviting new measures where police can shoot to kill anyone holding a ceasefire sign and immunizing motorists that run them over.

Set them on fire to show why it’s important to keep fire exits open.

If it’s true that Iran wants a face-saving way out of wider war and will contribute to peace without us paying them more tribute, then I am all for it. I do doubt that is what is happening, though, just due to the escalation in Iranian proxy attacks on U.S. forces in the Middle East. So far only one American contractor has been killed, but over 50 U.S. service personnel have been injured by these attacks since October 7. For perspective that is quite a bit more than the number we had injured in the same kinds of attacks between April 21 and January 22 when I was last over there. So far that’s been pretty muted in the media, but at some point it’s going to cross a line we can’t ignore.

I have seen the numbers but I have not seen how serious the injuries were. I saw one reference to TBI. Do you know?

Here is what friend sent me, but it's paywalled. Relying on headline.

Iran tells Hamas it will not enter the war with Israel

Domestic politics aside, I don’t see state-sanctioned violence against this movement being a thing. That doesn’t mean people won’t eventually get fed up and push back, which will inevitably lead to escalating violence, whether state-sanctioned or not. What I would like to see, as I’ve said, is the protests receive letter-of-the-law treatment just as they would if it was white extremists groups. To add color to what I mean by that: no permit = arrest; stray from your designated protest area and police protection = arrest; obstruct traffic or anyone’s day-to-day business = arrest; treat lawful counter protestors with anything less than the respect they would demand for themselves = arrest.

Iran has tried to enter the war with Israel to a limited extent. Unless one believes that they gave Houthis ballistic missiles to launch at Israel and/or the Houthis did this on their own. Which I do not. Iran launched those missiles from Yemen. But I believe they Iran only wanted to test the Arrow system. Iran uses the Houthis as its patsy because it wants no part of the warfare that would ensue with Israel if they started for real. They have been trying to break alliances with the attacks on the US, but it isn’t going to work. Because the truth is that no Arab State cares about the Palestinians, let alone Hamas. And the Sunni countries know what Irans aims are.

This is a fringe leftist Jewish group. Blocking exits is a dangerous act. It is beyond protest— it is designed to confront those who come out.

I don't disagree. Not saying I could do it, but classic non-violent civil disobedience accepts risk of arrest and does not resist. Ghandi asked to be sentenced to the max.

There is an argument that has been out there for decades that the Palestinians should have adopted these tactics long ago. But far be it from me to suggest that others fight injustice by accepting violence without resistance or retaliation. But as a meta-tactic, it is extremely effective.

I do know a little. Some are certainly TBIs. I saw an editorial posted by a retired colonel on MSN this morning that had more details, but now I can’t find it. I wonder if it inadvertently shared some classified information.

Thanks. I think the fact that we killed somewhere between 9 and 30 (varying reports) will hopefully deter more
