Wild. Trying to find a more thorough link but Elon's new algorithm promoted wild extremists over news organizations.

This is more about criticism of the coverage, but George Conway takes a supposed media critic to task for blaming the Washington Post for not having news that broke after their print deadline on the front page of the print edition, even though they dropped a story online at 3:00 a.m. It's the evergreen media criticism

Its interesting that people blocking an entrance get called "violent" when the police forcibly remove them.

I said it weeks ago: treat this lot the same as you would white supremacists, chanting for a clean sweep of black people from this country, one coast to the other. I was scoffed at that there couldn’t have been more than dozens of pro-Hamas demonstrators nationwide, and they weren’t worth the bother. These people are as a big of a problem as any such group of white supremacists would be, and the Jewish people of this country have been patient enough.

You want to treat Jewish people wanting a ceasefire like white supremacists? Unbelievable what people are willing to say and do to support a violent right-wing Israeli government. I liked it better when people just thought of these people as naive or misguided, maybe even just bad Jews.

Thanks for clarifying on the attempt at forced entrance though I didn't include that in the OP because I did not see that really confirmed. I did see numerous reports of "violence" towards police but I have not seen the particulars. Part of the OP was frustration that I could not find reliable reports.

I will say that Capitol Police, at least before, are not usually as instinctively violent as regular police, so I did give it more credence. But point taken that we need to be more certain. If I can't confirm soon, I will remove that from title. And I do consider Weigel reliable. Weird on many things, but reliable on this.

Calling them "Pro-Hamas" is such BS, and such typical Rubio.

This does not look like attacking police, but neither does it seem excessive by the police. You can't leave those inside trapped. But based on this only, and this is limited, police were not attacked

Self-selected videos so they may be incomplete, but it looks like police were not attacked but neither did they excessive force. Still thought I read 6 officers treated for what are likely minor injuries but this is all I see now, so I will edit title

They shouldn't be blocking doors. It's a fire hazard. If they won't move, arrest them.

I mean, that's exactly what happened, but because people are batshit about Israel its turned into pro-terrorist demonstrators attacking cops and trying to storm a building. The protestors literally had legal observers there to tell them what they could do, that they could be arrested if they didn't move, etc. Though the worst people will definitely want to call it liberal Jan 6.

Ehhh. If you can't get arrested without getting your ass beat you're not peacefully protesting. These people blocked doorways inviting trouble and it came. Which brings us back to not blocking doorways.

Respectfully, I disagree. It’s nasty but accurate. They are supporting Hamas’ war aims of interrupting U.S. support for Israel, forcing a ceasefire as opposed to a surrender, and enabling Hamas to declare victory. Everyone can get what they want (except Hamas, but little sympathy there) if Hamas surrenders. Let those sympathetic for the the innocent people who live in Gaza protest for that instead.

We will just have to respectfully disagree here. I don't think this fully supports Hams' goals. I know that want a cease-fire, but that's a short-term goal. What Hamas really wants is a wide ranging regional war, and so far, cooler heads have been able to keep that from happening. There was an unconfirmed report that the Iranians have already confirmed the a back channel to the Israelis that they don't want to get into a wider war and will not support Hamas. Obviously that may not be true and also could change.

Before October 7, I would been very sympathetic to peaceful demonstrations supporting Palestinian rights, especially in the West Bank. I have been shocked by the vehemence industry all of the demonstrations, especially if they occurred after the horrors of October 7. I can't explain it. But I don't think they're trying to support the desire for a wider regional war.

That said, obviously there's a lot of individuals with a lot of different motivations in the larger movement across the globe. Some of them seem to be the classic angry young men, especially so in the demonstration was scarcity. But the ones that were there at the DNC HQ last night didn't look at all like that.

I remain surprised at the size of the movement
