I understood. But it isnt "gone" as Billions still are guided by the concept.

As for the "live feed" part, that is why I make no guesses as to what the afterlife looks like, with the realization that Biblical descriptions are pretty vague and appear to be metaphoric.

Every individual is guided by a set of beliefs, but as an organizing principle for mass cooperation there is no such guidance to be found anymore

Can you prove to an ant that the internet exists?

Well you just proved you know nothing of the Big Bang theory. Correct that and we can have a civil discussion.

I can’t communicate with an ant. But your god became man and communicated with us? So the difference between us and an ant and us and your god must be far greater. Why would such a being care about us. Hubris much?

Ok. The conversation is wayyyy over here. Can we stop dragging it wayyy over there. The point is that lower forms of existence (ants, humans) do not dictate what is real simply on what they believe or comprehend.

An ant not understanding the internet has nothing to do with it's existence. A human's understanding of God has nothing to do with His existence.

Belief is not tantamount to proof and it is not always explainable.

I only believe in things that are known to exist. As soon as someone proves the supernatural I will re-examine my position. Doing otherwise is not rational.

But that distinction is significant. On the one hand you're saying "it's crap." On the other hand you're saying you are able to point out a scientific proof that contradicts a proposed solution. As a simplistic example, we know that two extremely large even number multiplied by each other will not yield an odd number. So if a proposed solution is odd, we do not need to know the full solution proposed to know that it is incorrect. But the reason we know it's incorrect is because something demonstrably false can be demonstrated about the proposed solution...not because we subjectively feel it doesn't appeal to our senses. When we talk about God and/or the rejection therof, we do not see such scientific reasoning to prove a proposed solution is incorrect.

Interesting word choice; is proof a scientific concept?

Think it is more mathematical than scientific but I said proves not proof.

My mistake on the word mix-up. I'd be curious to know what you see as the difference as aside from the noun/verb form of a similar concept. Also, can you give an example of something's existence that has been mathematically proven?

Well a proof is a mathematical term. I learned it when taking geometry in the 9th grade. Math is a tool more than anything “real” but this is getting kind of philosophical. Science deals in theories to explain our natural world. The three laws of thermodynamics aren’t really laws but proven theories.

gravity is one where as we learn more our definitions change. Newtons laws of gravity were the best for 100s of years and are still used to calculate trajectories of planets and objects, both natural and man made, einstein’s theory of gravity is better and explains how it works. Dr Becky, an astrophysicist communicator, has a YouTube channel I like. She and Neal degrasse Tyson, whose YouTube channel Startalk I also watch, explain these things much better than I can.

I like this analogy. We are the ants and you’re the ant pretending to understand exactly what the internet is and how it works. Sometimes you just have to accept that there are things that are far beyond our comprehension that aren’t neatly summed up by an old book.

Or ...Perhaps some of us ants have experienced something deeper and it aligns with what we read in the internet manual that some of the other ants have never bothered to really read?
