Car Dealerships are Filling Up with Cars Again

Found a new hybrid I was interested in but the dealer wouldn't come off their too high number. Then they got 41 of them in stock.

They called me and said come pick out your color, we'll do your number. Drove home with it the next day.

 

I currently own my 3rd and 4th hybrids....love the technology.

I encourage anyone in the market to check out the new Prius. It's a surprisingly beautiful and sporty car, gets incredible fuel economy and is much faster/more powerful than its predecessor.

 

But totally worth it to have vented and heated seats. I will never buy a car again without vented seats best invention since AC lol

Such as a '69 Boss Mustang! My dream car, but they're $100,000 and up. Coolest ride ever IMO.

 

Important to keep it in a garage which easy for me since I’m retired.

New Car Market: Prices Are About To Plummet Due to Oversupply

 

A good friend of mine just ordered a new GMC Denali 2500HD said the sales rep told him that the popular models are not being made in excess anymore, they can charge more and don't have to offer any deals. Unless you want the previous years model.

 

I’m a fan. My superb condition 13 year old 285,000 mile 4Runner Lmtd was totaled in the spring when a young kid drove into me - everyone ok. Was heartbroken when insurance took my truck off life support but took me zero seconds to replace with the 2023 version.

It’s like a Time Machine. Hasn’t changed nearly at all.

 

Dislike the crash part. One of the reasons we went with a 4Runner was hearing stories on the safety and the stories of how long they last. As much as I like the Tahoe and Yukon XL they are each starting to cost a lot more to keep up. Part of that was the dealer screwing up a biggish job. But after their work failed 6 months later and my local guy showed me the problem. It was pretty clear they decided to jury rig the thing. It would have been one thing if they told me what they were going to do and I accept the consequences. They ignored my complaint and it was not worth the time and effort to fight them. Just will never go back.

We have been super happy so far with the 4 Runner!

 

I would have said "Nah, knock another couple grand off and I'll think about it."

 

CLOTH SEATS!? Who are you, Rockefeller? Just get the vinyl then go to Sears and get the burlap seat covers held on with elastic bands.

 

Prices are so high for new cars or leases that a lot of people are buying out their leases.

 

And that my friends, is the art of the deal

 

Our lease was up for my wife’s car (SUV). Believe it or not, we had equity in the lease. But even still, after haggling for about a month (and several dealers), the new car was still much more expensive than the last one (due to interest rates).

 

I'm keeping an eye on prices as well. My 2005 4Runner has just north of 306K miles but the transmission slips occasionally (at least that's what I think it is ... it never does it when my mechanic buddy drives it). I'll pay cash when I pull the trigger on a purchase, just don't want to spend the roughly $40K on it's replacement (used) any sooner than I have to.

 

We always have equity in ours because we lease Hondas. We exceed the mileage allowances too and it doesn't matter because we move into a new lease 6-12 months before the last one ends.

 

One of the salesman told us to get lower miles to reduce the lease, because “they always forgive the miles” on the next car.

I don’t believe him.

With my luck, there will be some kind of “miles shortage” and I will have to pay triple.

 

My only vehicle is a 2015 nissan 4 cylinder Rogue with 77k miles. I’ll drive it till it dies.

Lost my lust for new vehicles long ago.

 

I can't get jiggy wit it in a Prius.
