U.S. car dealers have over 1.9 million cars on their lots, or a 53-day supply. That is up 75% from just a year ago. So it looks like the computer chip problem has been solved. The cars that sit on the lot the longest are the EV's at 103 days, followed by full-sized cars at 99 days.

Dealers Now Have Nearly Two Million New Cars Sitting On Their Lots

I've just started researching our next car and I'm not seeing a lot of new inventory on lots. Dealers have like 15-25 new cars total.

Maybe that's a lot, I don't know. I've never bought a new car. We've always done lightly used (<20k miles), but there is no longer any savings with that approach. So new it is.

If it were up to me and not my boss (wife) our car would have roll up windows, hand adjusted mirrors, cloth seats, and a carburetor.

Saw an interesting piece last night on how much more EV's weigh, and how that translates to worse outcomes in crashes for those in lighter vehicles. Those batteries are heavy especially in the larger EV's!

Such as a '69 Boss Mustang! My dream car, but they're $100,000 and up. Coolest ride ever IMO.

    Sweet ride right there.

My dream car is a 1970 Plum colored Hemi Cuda, 4 speed, with white vinyl seats.

    One can dream.

The extra weight also contributea more to road wear, and they don't pay gas taxes to (allegedly) fix roads.

Instead of the car's make on the grill, install a DENY THIS! sign.

I refuse to get leather seats in Florida, way too hot if you find yourself leaving it in the sun all day for any reason. The problem is to get extras you may want it usually is included in a premium package that includes leather seats so I usually just end up adding those in myself after market. Just added vented and cooled seats for about $500 to my Tacoma, well worth the investment.

Ford F-150 Lightning EV price cuts (cnbc.com)

    • Ford on Monday announced significant price cuts for all versions of its electric F-150 Lightning pickup.
    • The cheapest version of the Lightning will now start at about $50,000, a roughly $10,000 cut.
    • All versions of the EV will get price cuts of at least $6,000 as Ford works to boost production this fall.

Our leather seats are a light camel in color and not at all hot. Still not as cool as cloth.

This is good news. I’m going to mow some lawns to save up money for a down payment.

Oh wait, I’m thinking back to when I was a kid.

I usually scale back the model to get a vehicle with cloth seats, and then cover them with Neoprene (wet suit material) seat covers. I also don't like too much electronics on my cars--too much to go wrong over the car's 15-18 year life before I sell it.

We recently bought a 4 Runner (daughter turning 16 in less than a year and we have a 07 Tahoe and 11 Yukon XL). Wanted a dependable family car for a few years we could hand off (she gets the Tahoe to start).

Enough options are out there as wife wanted white and leather. After seeing the SofTex was solid we ended up with a trim I did it expect. Go the last day of the month! I could have likely negotiated a little more off. But if you bring a fair offer I am not going to nickel and dime like some to say I got the win. They came in lower than I thought they would and I tip the hat to the give me my price if I finance after we countered (well if the numbers made it worth it I would but the extra paper work…) or slightly higher. I just took the cash price they offered knowing I could have walked out and had them call me two hours later. It was a fair price as I told the guy he would not be able to get to the number when we walked me to the vehicle. I knew right away the sticker was higher than I expected them to come off.
