Trump's Project 2025 plan would eliminate all but the 15% and 30% tax brackets and eliminate the child care credit. A married couple making $100K a year with 2 kids would pay $6600 more a year in taxes.

However, the same couple making $5M a year would get a $325K annual tax cut.

Do you really want to spend another $6600 a year to help fund immigrant.concentration camps?

Project 2025 would overhaul the U.S. tax system. Here's how it could impact you.

I suspect Trump voters will shrug off paying $6,600 more in taxes from bi-weekly tax withholding if it means they save an equal amount or less accumulating each item in the grocery store and gas. It’s all sleight of hand in what they want to hear and feel.

claims inflation will somehow be reduced doesn’t make it so.

Economists Say Inflation Would Be Worse Under Trump Than Biden

“don’t count on Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, to bring inflation down faster than Biden if he wins the presidential election in November.

Most economists believe inflation, deficits and interest rates would be higher during a second Trump administration than if Biden remains in the White House, according to a quarterly survey of forecasters by The Wall Street Journal.

I think there is a real risk that inflation will reaccelerate under a Trump presidency,” said Bernard Baumohl, chief global economist at the Economic Outlook Group. That would likely lead the Federal Reserve to set interest rates higher than if inflation continues its downward trajectory”

I’m not sure how anyone thinks they’ll save $6,600 at the grocery store to offset taxes? Not following.

If anything, Trump tariffs are likely to drive inflation. Deflation is unlikely unless there’s severe economic recession brought about by these policies ala the Great Recession.

If any president has/had a magic wand to stop inflation don't you think they would all have utilized it?

For the 4857349753985th time on this board, the US now has the lowest inflation rate of any G7 country.

High prices at the grocery store are due to greedflation and the only solution for that is government intervention in private business--what the right has called socialism for so long.

My consolation prize if the country loses it's mind and elects Trump is more favorable taxes in the top backet. Nice. Could be worse.

As long as the next president doesn't hand out trillions of dollars again, inflation shouldn't be a major issue for the foreseeable future. Think we'll be around 2.5-3% for a pretty good while.

what is djt going to do to bring the cost of gas and groceries?

ignore another pandemic? that worked last time...

this would take me from 17% to 30%. Are you going to save me $30k a year in gas and groceries? I don't eat that much and my boat isn't that big...

Because authoritarian regimes are known for managing inflation?

Hungary’s President gets propped up as some sort of model on the right. Their “economic freedom score” ranks in the 70’s in the world.

    https://static.heritage.org/index/pdf/2024/2024_indexofeconomicfreedom_hungary.pdf

    2022 inflation. 14.5%

Index of Economic Freedom: Hungary | The Heritage Foundation.

    Good luck with that.

Not only would Trump's tariffs plan be inflationary, so is his undocumented immigration plan. Undocumented immigrants make up about 50% of all farm workers in the US. What do you think will happen if a significant number of these workers are round up, put in a concentration camp, and shipped back home?

For farmers, they will have to replace the immigrant labor. And for prices not to rise, do so at the same pay rate as the immigrants. If the farmers cannot replace the immigrant labor at the same pay rate, one of two things will happen; both of which are inflationary. One, the farmers pay the replacement labor higher wages, and pass along these costs to the consumer in the form of higher prices. Or two, there is less labor meaning less supply of crops, and only a minute drop in demand. And moving the supply curve this way leads to higher prices.

Just because Trump had low inflation his first term doesn't magically mean he'll automatically have low inflation if elected again.
