just like they needed the reps to end up with that garbage game against Oregon State last season. besides, at 5-7, even if we are invited to a bowl, it will probably be in a cold, far away place that the fans won't want to travel to. the game would probably be on a day and time in December when everybody forgets that there is a bowl game on tv...and please don't insult a stranger on the internet, not classy...you know nothing about me. we have all weathered the ups and downs of this program together. i went to school at UF when the gators were ZERO in football, i had to say wait 'til next year like everybody else. well, guess what, Spurrier arrived the year after I graduated and things got much better quickly...and it went from there...through it all, i'm still a fan...in all kinds of weather
Yes, and do we really want Jax Madison State Ag College AT and T running the ball at will against us? Not a good look!
Just my personal opinion but I think there are way too many meaningless bowl games. There are only a few bowl games that really matter, the rest are for me just junk. I care about seeing Florida play our rivals and fellow SEC teams, but games against a random, spin the wheel of mediocre teams team doesn’t really get my juices going that much. Even serious fans struggle to remember who won or lost The Sponsorname Sponsorname Bowl a year after it happened. I personally don’t think a .500 team should be rewarded with a bowl game, much less one with a losing record.
and you can still be a good fan to point out that the gators don't deserve to play in a bowl game this season...
you're welcome...i posted that reply to your post because i was called a not "in all kinds of weather" fan by another poster for basically saying that no one would want to watch a 5-7 team play in a bowl game...
We’re all here because we are fans. We seek out this forum and take the time and effort to post days, weeks, hours before and after games because we CARE. To belittle others based on their perceived “level” of fandom is simply snobbery, something I can’t get down with.
not to mention rival fans at your workplace constantly laughing at you for making that meaningless bowl game
You might be kidding but I would bet my bullocks you’re right. Pretty funny observation actually. With new recruit and another year of the system, I’m feeling good even about our chances next year.
Of course UF can go to a bowl. Players can purchase tickets and attend the bowl game of their choice, just like everyone else.
The pecking order for bowl eligibility based on APR is as follows (APR ranking shown): James Madison (62) - FCS to FBS transition priority Jacksonville State (115)- FCS to FBS transition priority Minnesota (8) Wake Forest (8) Rice (15) Mississippi State (19) Central Florida (22) South Carolina (23) Michigan State (28) Ball State (34) Baylor (34) Army (36) Cal (36) Florida (43) Old Dominion (84)
The '79 team was Charley Pell tearing everything to the ground and building it up again, same as Jimmy Johnson did with the Cowboys. We all know this isn't the same thing.
