Eh. It's a message board. People are going to sound off and a lot of takes will be based on emotions. You're not going to control it, so why worry about it?
We’ve been terrible overall but his offfense that he controls has been decent with not so great talent. The draft will confirm that. The defense is what’s been horrible and he’s recruited pretty well there but we haven’t seen them develop yet and he canned the part of the staff he deems responsible. We have the highest rated qb in the nation now but are a couple years from him being the man. We have sucked but we sucked when he got here. I think we may get 6-7 wins this year but be a much better team. This years class may compete for the sec in 2-3 years but we aren’t even close to that discussion yet. No coach in history would beat Georgia, Bama, or Texas with this years team. He just needs to be solid and not look like the keystone cops this year.
All this and a big culture change. Coaches M&M had some flash but it covered a rotting foundation preventing consistency and true excellence. Players seeking better workouts off campus is a dark stain, and "when it's recruiting season" are glaring examples. I'm not tongue in cheek when I post, Back in the Mix in 26. I'm sure it makes some heads explode but That's when I expect a good amount of All SEC starters and quality behind them, competing with anyone. Could another coach have had success quicker and without staff issues? Possibly. But doubtful given our systemic issues, NIL fustercluck and portal chaos. Staffing has gotten chaotic also for most every team not among the elites with stability at head coach.
Great job, Doc. Love the energy you bring to the board. Sorry to say, I see it as a lost cause. As Doering stated, “Gator fans are the worst”. This has been on full display on GC for a long time. GL fighting the uphill battle. Look forward to seeing what you have to say about today’s scrimmage. By far it’s the most important practice of spring. CBN used four practices this week, with a walkthrough yesterday, to set up the week as a true game day practice schedule for today’s scrimmage. This will set the order going into fall. The O&B game will be part of it, too, but today is the day for the players to set their spot. The other big subject will be the spring portal. It could be complete chaos. The talk is a 10-33% roster turnover across college football. It could get nuts, and if it gets nuts, I don’t see it as a good thing for UF… We’ll see.
As a UF and UW fan, I saw a lot of Mertz before last year. I posted about it, and for a lot of the resons you mentioned, said I expected Mertz to be good with UF... But, I was just pumping sunshine-
I have heard sportscasters refer to message boards and make the assumption that all Gator fans feel the same way. And common sense informs us that other schools use the negativity to recruit players away from us.
"....when folks defend Napier’s offensive performance, you often hear them say that the defense was the problem in 2023, not the offense. While that’s true to the extent that the defense was definitively worse than the offense, that argument misses some key context." Yes, Florida’s offense must improve - Read & Reaction
Sure it must improve. The oline was terrible. We will see. No sense in complaining for six months while no games are being played.
How about reasonable? I’m gonna smoke hopium in the offseason and think we’re gonna go 10-2…. Then want CBN fired after 15 fake jet sweep/dives up the middle and despite all my offseason praise of CBN coaching roster moves imma go “see I’ve BEEN saying we should fire him and all of you are sunshine pumps just like you were for the 3 Ms But how bout we skip all that and just be reasonable and honest based on reality and what we know today. Today we are 0-0 with a pretty decent roster and new coaches
