And this is why I always laugh at the people that claim Trump is playing 8-dimensional chess, or whatever it is up to today. Guess what makes a society move towards a sense of positive common purpose and get along in a way necessary for the development of small-l liberal values? Stuff like Sesame Street. Teach a three year old Shiite that he shouldn't hate a Kurdish person and it becomes harder to instill that hate later. Or be short sighted and leave that to the Iranians and Saudis, who will teach them to hate the other ethnic and religious groups, and let them continue ruining lives with a proxy war that only benefits the rulers of both countries. Now which is better for the US, the country that has spent trillions and is still spending billions per year as part of these proxy wars? An ounce of prevention or pounds of violent "cure?"

I think you we ALL should be happy to learn the facts about when this administration tells us outright lies. Such as their $20mill Sesame Street lie.

What we should not do is repeat their lies as if they are fact.

from Matt Taibbi’s podcast—-interesting that Harry Truman tried to buy greenland-

President Trump and those who support acquiring Greenland often point out that President Harry Truman wanted to acquire the huge island of about 840,000 square miles — which is more than three times the size of Texas.
But Truman’s pursuit was done in secret. We didn’t find out about it until 1991, when a Danish newspaper found documents in the National Archives that were declassified 20-some years earlier. Truman’s offer on Dec. 14, 1946: $100 million in gold.

    Huh, what a novel concept.

I believe this has been known for some time. We were caretakers of the island during WWII after Denmark was invaded. This was during Truman’s VP and Presidency and ultimately culminated with us entering into a new treaty with Denmark to maintain bases there.

Sorry I don’t think spending 20 million will make a dent in the fact that shiites, sunni, and kurds have hated or disliked each other for centuries. That’s a pipe dream.

Maybe that makes you an optimist and me a pessimist.
    I don’t Know. I think I’m more of a realist.

Is there a dollar figure that would? Or is it about how successful teaching values through TV shows is? Heck, you would think that low cost ways to influence people would be preferred to high cost ways to do so.
