    Stick with someone:
    1. Who stole a term paper from a fellow student?
    2. Do you realize that he knew this action could of caused some serious academic issues for the student who wrote that paper? Showing no concern on who he screwed over.
    3. Turned in a second term paper that was purchased from off the internet? Again trying to take the easy way out.
    4. Tried to destroy evidence of a crime (buying a hot laptop). Again trying to hide the truth
    5. Who ducked out from a hearing in front of Florida's Student Conduct Committee. Again trying to avoid taking responsibility.
Your last statement, "I’ll stick to the Cam Newtons of the world", tells me that you are a Nole in disguise or even lower.

Guy cheated on college homework and was involved in a stolen laptop snafu. Like I said, there have been people who have done much worse who get the grace and benefit of redemption. Shrug.

I am all for forgiveness. Two decades ago, I forgave him, prayed for him, and moved on from him.

My recent comments about cam is not about holding a grudge against him. It is more about disappointment. I sad to see that he still cannot come clean about his poor choices at UF. A person seeking redemption does the right thing in being honest in what he did and did not do. Cam has not made it through that crossroads yet. I pray that he does and is able to move on.

As for the other people that have done much worse, I have moved on from them and I hope/pray that they too atone and seek redemption as well.

Sounds like he came clean to me. Plus a person seeking redemption makes it a point to live the rest of their life being a service to and helping out others, which is what he’s doing. He’s not a bad person in my book. If that makes me a “troll” then so be it, this place hates it when you don’t share the same intense dislike for certain players as they do.

Yeah it does sound far fetched. He went to a junior college in Texas when he would have been backup QB at UF that year and likely starter after that. That would be a choice that few would make.

Read this - posted before by someone on here but it says it all. Check out the names that vouch for this story also.

Report: Newton was caught cheating at Florida

And then reference your statement about not hearing him speak about his time UF. Why would that be? I know others have made this point but I'll try again.

Cam Newton leaving UF was pretty devastating to the QB room depth as the 2010 and 11 seasons showed. The coaches were well aware of that so, if they had a choice in the matter, they would not be inclined to kick him off the team. Not saying they wouldn't have but in light of Urban's methods I think they would have given him another chance.

I recall that at the time, that the decision about Cam staying at UF was taken out of the coaches hands and placed in an academic conduct committee where he faced expulsion due to repeated incidents of cheating and stealing. The linked article implies that is the case and he left UF to avoid that fate.

Now doesn't all that seem less far fetched than Cam speaking out after all these years and saying it was all about playing time? The evidence would indicate that he is lying about what happened and he was a cheater back in his college days. Pretty convincing but that's just me - I wouldn't pick Cam Newton as one of my heroes. It seems he is willing to lie publicly now about a situation that was well documented in the press back then when he chose not to speak out despite some serious shade being thrown at his character.

I don’t think anyone is saying Cam Newton is a hero. At the same time I’m not going to pile on him for stupid things he did as a 19-year old college kid. Especially when he’s grown to be a successful man who spends time mentoring the youth. Some Gator fans have an obvious bone to pick with him because they feel like his early departure is one of the reasons why the program fell off the cliff, and that’s their right. Everything isn’t always about football tho.

Well . . . this was just from the last page of the thread:

Some just get a rise out of having arguments, folks. Reminds me of . . .

Me defending him and saying he’s not that bad of a guy doesn’t mean he’s my hero. LOL

This is going nowhere! As OP I'm in favor of Mods locking this thing up.

Narcissist far and away was the winner of the poll with 26 votes.
The next closest was Primadonna with 3!

The other responses got 1 or 2 votes each.
