Did you really need to invite them to comment? They show up and complain about Cal uninvited. Don't prompt them!

There’s some string smoke that Texas is making a play for Cal. Maybe that has the locker room angry?

This is one of the few SEC teams I care about doing well other than the Gators. It's a long time friend of the family thing so I take no enjoyment in their current fall.

Lots of changes in the whole landscape of professional NCAA sports have come to light - legal gambling, player payments and who know what other skulduggery lurks in the background out of sight. Like other coaches he may have to evolve and love it or just clean up whatever mess he has. He may want to bow out gracefully so I wouldn't stick a fork in him just yet.

    Hi Grant,
Jeff and REM will be hosting a KY retrospective of all the greatness of UK hoops. They are reserving a front row seat, just for you! Lol

Just trolling ya my Gator friend.

Yep, I think Cal may not retire at UK after all. Just hope they don't go after Billy D when Cal leaves. That would be awkward.

Actually I think this is sad if this isn't somewhat of a joke. Truth is, sports for many has become a religion, a center piece of their life. I would consider myself somewhat of a fanatic when it comes to uf sports. However, it is not the center of my life. My relationship with Jesus Christ is. After that my wife, kids, ect. But for sports or career or hobby to be so central in one's life to me is sad.
Just remember after death it's all about location, location, location.

Amen to all of that, I certainly agree. I suspect the post I attached wasn't a joke but it should have been.

When I lived in Lexington, I definitely knew fans like him. They're in the minority but they do exist. Idols are easy to find - just not always as easy to recognize as idols.

I think Calipari is too stubborn to change. It is only going to get worse….

If Texas is that stupid I would be shocked, but who knows. I imagine this debacle is a combo of many things. We chose our bed now we must lay it , while being stomped on. Calipari was a failure at UK plain and simple…

typical arrogance of a pUKe fan, most programs would like his success but was a failure in their eyes.

I agree gentlemen, sports / athletic completion is one of the finer aspects of the human condition, some would say overemphasized however which, becoming an older man, I tend to agree with.

For the life of me, I can’t see why Texas would want him - and it’s not like I’m a Cal hater obviously. There are a good number of realistic candidates I’d much rather have if I were them. Cal is a big name and would be a “splash” hire, would also bring in a ridiculous recruiting class instantly, but I don’t see the appeal at this point in his career. Certainly, if you really don’t have other good options but Texas should/would.

I still see Cal’s tenure differently than you though. I respect your take but I’m thankful for his time in Lexington. Those first bunch of years were worth it for me. Time is up though.

You always seem to pile on me for some reason. Can you tell me how it could be deemed a success?? He has been here 14 years and we have one title. With his salary it would be deemed a failure in most peoples eyes.

I’m not sure you were a poster here in 2015 like I was but I wanted him fired when we didn’t win the title with 9 pros on the team. I saw the writing on the wall early!!

I know we disagree a bit on the overall take on Calipari. I’ve just been soured since 2015….

Sounds like to me that the Kats have good/great talent, but it hasn’t meshed. Of course we play y’all twice near the end of the year, we are going to have our hands full. Typical Cal team, it waits almost to the last month to get it together but come tourney time they will be ready. THe problem is that a game where you all struggle shooting allows teams with a little older more experience can stop the Kat bus. I know it is frustrating for fans on both sides, but recruiting is sixty percent of a chance to have success. Cal isn’t going nowhere who would fire him?

I hear what you are saying but this is one of Caliparis oldest teams.
We have the NPOY and 2 time SEC leading assist man, a top 10 NBA pick and great shooters from the portal to go with some 5 star talent. He gets paid 8.75 million a year to figure it out. In most other jobs he would have been shown the door for terrible results… we should do that and start over!

You all will get better as the year goes. That is typical of Cal. If he goes out in the first game of the SEC tournament and the NCAA, then I would worry. He won’t leave and no one is going to fire him. TV loves a coach who came up with recruiting problems following him wherever he has been, commentators love to hear his explanations of his coaching style. They also talk about what a great coach he is. Unless he wants to retire, I don’t see him leaving. Sorry, but we get the end of the season turnaround every year. We help his reputation annually. We hate that he has agents pushing kids to him we need, whether they are sports agents, shoe company reps and AAU coaches and kids handlers. Money comes when they go pro and they get the kids locked into pro agent contracts. There are probably more benefits that these people get but I regress. This is why about four or five teams get all the great kids. The NCAA should busted this up long ago, but TV money is about the blue bloods and prestige. The Tabacco Road series, Kansas and Kentucky, where basketball it all started. Spare Me, Billy D knew it was rigged and got out.
