I personally do not like Donovan as he has been out of college way too long with all the changes. He has never wanted to come and some people are grasping at straws. There is no perfect candidate out there but I am excited for the future and glad to get back to a coach that is Kentucky first and not worrying about players feelings all the time.
Per Matt Jones of KSR, Kentucky’s list is 1. Danny Hurley 2. Scott Drew 3. Billy Donovan I would be very surprised if it got past #2
They are fine but the arrogant bullshit about going after Donovan and Hurley makes me nauseous. I won’t be surprised if we see the continued decline of the UK program.
Mark Pope, Anthony Grant, Greg McDermott, Scott Drew. I actually think that the future superstar coach out there is Bucky McMillan, but he is going to have to work his way up the ladder. If Kentucky were to hire Nate Oats, I would not be surprised to see Alabama hire McMillan right now.
Thank you for your response. We shall see what happens. I am not a big fan of Hurley, or Donovan personally. I sure wanted Donovan back in the day..but that was then.
IMO, Hurley is the best coach in college basketball right now. I thought that Pitino was and still think that he’s a great coach, but after watching 3 St. John’s v UConn games this season, I am convinced that Hurley is better than everyone else. That doesn’t mean that he’s not obnoxious. As for Donovan, I don’t see any reason for anyone to dislike him as a person or a coach.
Watched some of the festivities tonight with the hire and really enjoyed it. I've always like Arkansas as a program and appreciated their passionate fan base, so it was nice to see the lengths they went to for this significant occasion. I'm not a Calipari hater, either. I think he's a damn good coach with a boatload of experience and this hire will pay huge dividends for Arkansas. $7 million per year for 5 years not including bonuses....woo pig......not too shabby!
