Sticking it to California and Massachusetts is owning the libs for them. And they think sending immigrants to those places is some huge slap in the face. The mistreatment of the immigrants is just collateral damage to a group of people they don't care about.
I think a lot of it is that they think that they think that being around immigrants is so unpleasant that blue states only differ on immigration policy because they do not bear the burden. Immigration in mass numbers (or if they traverse your private property crossing, which a few experience), is a bit of a burden, though the federal government pays/reimburses for most, and there is ultimately a net benefit. It is ultimately about inevitable culture change around you and no longer feeling that you are in the clear minority. On a human level, that is discomfiting at the id level, but is is also an inevitable part of human life and a source of growth if accepted with equanimity.
I guess I have become a lib then. Cause pretty much everything the GOP does lately strikes me as stupid.
my nickname for him. It just seemed to fit. a lot of people struggling to pay rent and get medical care could ahve been helped with that $30M. The legislature needs to be made to answer that question
Good luck with this guys. Don't come crying to us about weaponization of the Justice Department when a Republican is President. You can get tired of me saying this all you want... but you brought this on yourselves if you move forward with this (scratch that, you already have with the Trump indictment, this would just be more cover). If this goes forward, the only standard that apparently matters anymore regarding criminal indictments is whether it was possible that the person in question broke the law. We will remember that and we will hold you to that.
Deflection aside, you're good with spending $45,000 per immigrant, to fly them to Martha's Vineyard, and they weren't even in Florida? Good lord, if you're in the illegal transportation of illegals business, get a group rate on an economy airline! Think of all the millions being wasted on ferrying illegals around, that could be going to education vouchers for the rich!
It's an effective way of pushing for change to federal law, securing the border, and thereby saving money for Floridians in the long run. So yes, "I'm good with it." And I'd like for DeSantis to send twice as many next time to Sacramento.
General question to GC mods: When are we going to get the poop emoji? Because this is a big ol' pile of doodoo right here.
Are all immigrant transfers typically done with the consent of the migrants? Are they typically given this shopping list of places they can go, then the state takes them wherever they want on the tax dollar's dime? I guess send migrants to Florida. lol. I don't know. That's for you guys to figure out. We're not the ones acting like we're this beacon for anybody crossing the border regardless of how or why they come here.
Without informing the other governors. With grossly inflated costs of transportation, benefitting Republican donors. You really think this is a cost effective way to counter illegal immigration? Spending millions of dollars to move around 100 immigrants? DeS should just ask to borrow Air Force One, it'd be cheaper.
States have no authority to send immigrants anywhere. Certainly not on an involuntary basis, unless they happened to be in custody for a crime they could then turn them over to ICE. This is real simple. If these programs were legal, they wouldn’t have to use 3rd party chartered flights and they wouldn’t have to lie and give false papers to get these immigrants to unwittingly board these planes. Actually that “lying to get them on planes” is pretty much what separates the actions as legal vs. illegal. If you support them “tricking” people to board planes, in essence you are trying to defend fraud and human trafficking. People wouldn’t have an issue if this were 100% voluntary and helping these immigrants get close to family or whatever (something i think the feds should do to relieve pressure on border states). Of course we know the purpose of the flights is in no way altruistic. They are political stunts, and dishonesty/fraud is needed to pull off the stunt.
I never said that I did. Now can you prove beyond a reasonable doubt that such instruction came from DeSantis?
