The thread title is a little misleading. According to the article they are still investigating who shot the girl. It also seems she may have been involved in the firefight shooting at the cops.
A lot of unknowns here.. and the ok title seems to be inflammatory.

Awful situation all around with that family. The father, who was the kidnapper, had also killed her mother earlier that day. Looks like victim was killed during crossfire with the father, who had been shooting at the cops.

Yep. Saw that, too. I’m less inclined to believe that part until the evidence comes to light. If it’s true, then there should be police video backing it up.

I agree that the thread title needs to be revised. Lotta questions about this horrible scenario, but the title seemingly indicates that LEOs shot a girl as if she were a perp. While I don't believe she was a perp, the story suggests that she may have been complicit in the shootout. Either way, it appears she was shot in the course of a shootout.

I understand that.. but claiming the cops shot the victim as she tried to escape… at this point seems a little inflammatory. Lot of info we still don’t know.
At the very worst she got hit in the crossfire and not on purpose… as the title would lead on to believe.

I don't think that's remotely the worst case scenario when the cops are claiming she fired on them.

The cops didn’t claim that though. They said she may have been and an investigation is still on going.

Regardless, that’s their excuse for shooting her, either she did fire in them or they thought she fired on them….

    Again.. not necessarily
    1. The cops where in the middle
of a shootout with her dad. She may have been shot by accident as she ran through the shootout.
She jumps out of the car wearing body armor. Runs through the shootout.
To just blame the cops and claim they murdered a kidnap victim as she ran to them for help is at best inflammatory.
It is most likely she was short by accident.

Did I blame the cops? I said either she was shooting at them and they can prove that, or they will stick with that they thought she was shooting at them even if the evidence is inconclusive or shows she wasn't -- which that have already said. They will almost certainly get off either way, but the latter scenario makes the shooting much more questionable.

My comment was about the thread title. Do you assume all cops are liars and scumbags? Do you not see any room for benefit of the doubt?
