You have heard all politics is local, haven’t you? It’s the same with going green. You do what you can where you can. If enough people do it will make a difference.

Doubtful. That would require real sacrifice. Our way of life is clearly unsustainable. I don’t see that changing in any meaningful way anytime soon. And the US only makes up 14% of global greenhouse gasses. Even if we do manage to get our house in much better shape it’s not going to matter. It’s only going to get worse.

California largely solved its smog problem (at least reduced it to a manageable level) as a direct result of their heightened emissions standards (both cars and bunker fuels in vessels) and you think that’s a bad thing? WTAF?

OK, let's blame the mowers because a certain somebody forgot to charge their batteries. Typical Republican "acceptance" of responsibility.

California's emissions standards are still higher, you incorrectly use the past tense. The California Air Resources Board was created by legislation signed by a RINO you might be familiar with...Ronald Reagan.

I would rather the state of California mandate putting better mufflers on these yard machines than ban them outright.

 

Freedom to by an ICE mower should be a freedom for every American.

But I still do like the electric mowers... just not the mandates or controls to ICE machines.

The batteries are come of age, and in the small engine electric yard tools are a great place to start buying.

My last yard mowing guy used all electric mowers, and I loved the quickness and the quietness of the electric motors. I wish more professional yard/grass cutting people used the electric mowers, weed-cutters and edgers.

 

That was the lead in gasoline... The also got rid of all the smokestack industries in the cities an that was done by NOT banning anything, but removing certain industries out of town and even the state.

The smog problem was a national problem even if it was mainly in California... so they got federal help to clean up the smog in various ways.

I lived in California for a few years when I was young, and I know all about the smog problems of the past. The smog was areal threat to your health... you could actually see it in the air, and feel it in your lungs. That was a national health risk that was real. Maybe they should mandate mowers with catalytic converters on them... and better noise control mufflers.

Wow, I see your admitting to hiring illegal aliens and under paying them to mow your lawn. Nor surprising that it's the libbies abusing the illegal immigrants and laws

 

Here in Gainesville, there is an all-battery-operated mowing company, it's hard for him to compete against the other companies right now, I think he's a few years ahead of his time.

Also, there's a large commercial gas mowing company that is actually using man less mowers on large open areas, control them with joy sticks. It reminds like the floor cleaners at Sam's club

 

I've went to several battery-operated hand tools and love them, but I've bout a few different hedge trimmers and they just don't last long enough for the job on my yard. And I love my loud polluting Stihl backpack blower, have had it for 5 years and wouldn't trade for the battery operated one. If I had a smaller property, I would consider it then.

 

I'm friends with a large beekeeper and he does that between Florida and Ohio

 

That's pretty interesting, I wonder how well they would perform and last in snow
