Cal.-earthquakes, wildfires...hurricanes?

    El Nino also slows the normal upwelling of cold water upwards off the west coast. Lots of typical repercussions, but in this case extra energy for an already energized storm.

    “100 year storms” is a term that should be retired across the country.

    Just like all the “Alarmists” told you about 30 years ago. (Not you AZ, “you” the generic.)

    No doubt hardasses, but one calamity ain’t like the next. Just like Texas is decimated by snow, the west coast is not prepared for a hurricane. Godspeed.

    Not a lot of good reasons to prepare for a once in 84 years event. I'm sure that some people have evacuated who are def in danger of flooding but there's a sense of nonchalance among many I'm seeing online.

    Yeah, we hope that our house is in a good position. We're toward the bottom of a foothill, but the neighborhood is on a pretty steep hill. Of course a mudslide could occur, but the foothill didn't burn in the wildfire, which helps some. I can't imagine enough flooding could occur to somehow reach our house thought it might be possible for flooding at the bottom that prevents us from getting out.

    Vegetation fire near me earlier today. So weird. Probably out by now but it's been raining for several hours. Storm is directly over us right now. Rain and some wind gusts, some lights flickering, and I don't want to write this too soon, but it doesn't seem worse than some of the atmospheric river storms that we've been getting in the winter.
