Agree although the difference between Rick Perry and Scott Walker is that while Rick Perry won three statewide elections in Texas he was never considered a favorite for the Republican nomination, both Scott Walker and Ron DeSantis were considered favorites for the nomination before their campaigns collapsed.
Correction: Perry actually led in an a 2011 CNN poll with 27% and in a Gallup poll with 29%. Still not exactly enough to make up a favorite.

Agree and expanding on that statement, Ron DeSantis was running as Trump lite. Supporters of the former president preferred the real deal to an imitation.

How many of the people who agreed with you in addition to you, yourself... are registered Republicans with predominantly right-wing political views?

My point: Of course you don't like him. Everyone who agreed with you despised the top 2 Republicans in the primary, and perhaps even the top 3.

He's right. I saw a video the other day that was a perfect example of DeSantis's problem on the national stage. He was at a South Carolina event criticizing Nikki Haley and asked a question about her record as governor. A Republican voter there disagreed with him and started to explain why he was wrong. Ron tried to cut her off to go back to his talking point, she kept trying to talk to get what she had to say out, Ron kept talking over her in a rude and hostile manner, and it only ended up making him look bad.

If you look at how the best politicians operate, they're able to make people like that feel heard while pivoting back to the point they want to offer and often times adding in some humor to disarm the person and lighten the mood. Simply put, some folks are just naturally charming and charismatic. Ron isn't either. It's why he put so much effort in to having friendly media at his events while Florida Governor. He's simply not good at dealing with hostile questioning. He defaults to responding in a petulant and hostile manner.

Here's an article on it, and it includes the video:
'It's not your show ma'am, it's not your show': Ron DeSantis has furious back and forth with teacher: Florida governor's hail mary South Carolina trip ends with a tense exchange as he cancels Sunday show appearances before jetting back to New Hampshire | Daily Mail Online
When you're responding in a sneering way and getting in verbal sparring sessions with your own party's base at your events, you aren't doing it right.

The guy dominating the Republican Primary right now, who is the reason Ron DeSantis suspended his campaign, who is leading in like half of the general election polls... not only responds to hostile questioning in a petulant and hostile manner, he blatantly lies in ridiculous fashion in his responses.

It's hard to say Ron DeSantis lost because he was mean to people posing hostile questions when the guy smoking everyone in the primary is meaner to people posing hostile questions.

Not that you don't have any sort of point here.

That's absolutely a valuable skill in politics. And I'd say Nikki Haley is better than DeSantis at that. She's better at winning liberals over in a Republican Primary.

Unfortunately, that's not too helpful in a Republican Primary. It may be marginally helpful because you have some Democrats register as Republicans in red states so they have a choice in their elections. But it won't win her a primary, and in today's climate, I doubt it would win her a general.

The vast majority of this country has their mind made up. We're at a point where you're more likely to win elections by rallying your base to the polls while simultaneously killing any enthusiasm surrounding your opponent; than to win over the "undecided voters."

Trump is unique. I think he's a repugnant person, but there's no denying that he can be entertaining and charismatic. DeSantis isn't Trump. DeSantis lost chiefly because he's a knock-off Trump in a race that Trump is running in. But it sure doesn't help him that he's not a people person.

It doesn't. Sizzle isn't his strength, but I don't think in a normal race it necessarily needs to be.

The timing just needs to be right.

And timing and circumstance are kind of tough for Ron right now. He's termed out as Governor of Florida and Florida has two Republican Senators. He's going to have to work some magic to work his way up from Governor.

Me too, so there would be a possibility of more people moving to America Florida, and finally moving out of actual Florida

DeSantis ran as a mini-Trump trying to tip-toe around Trump to default his way to the nomination hoping Trump would be tripped up with his 91 indictments. His biggest mistake was underestimating the lack of integrity of the Republican base voter. Hard to do, but he did.

You definitely have a point that fl often mocks posters instead of trying to refute their points, and being on the receiving end of his jabs is aggravating. It certainly feels like he deserves the same treatment, especially after what they’ve said to you.

I do still think Tilly has a point. It is assuredly difficult to refrain, but we don’t have to be like that. Insults are unlikely to actually teach him anything, and in delivering them, we lose the high ground in the process. In my view, you’re a really cool person that belongs in the high ground. Fl may be having trouble seeing that, but we all have our troubles.

He’s one of 4 I have on ignore. Not because he’s a troll but he’s not here for honest debate. He’s only here to provoke liberals. Not worth engaging.
