Not sure how many wins it will take but it will be very difficult having faith in the quality of team Napier will put on the field in August next year. I assume we got a good sampling of what happens if the team loses two early games after an off season of optimism and hope. It only took two games for us to know we were out of it and dead in the water for the rest of the season. He is going to need some signature dominant wins in the next few weeks and 6 wins isn't going to be inspiring heading in to the offseason.

Everyone keeps remembering the good about Mullen. He was horrible his last year and clearly quit on his team. Something happened behind the scenes and I’m sure we will never find out. He phoned it in on recruiting. I’ve heard there were routine screaming matches between him and Stricklin.

If year 1 Mullen maintained throughout, he would still be here and would likely be a playoff contender. But he changed. Something changed.

Also - he got fired and we reportedly spoke to multiple candidates and hired Napier. We didn’t fire Mullen to hire Napier.

I know this isn’t a popular opinion - I was ready to fire Napier after Miami. But this team has rebounded and played very well the last month. If that effort maintains and we win a few games, then I am OK with keeping Napier. And given current state of UF administration - I think it could very well happen.

To me - we need to have the can’t miss/home run hire if we fire Napier at 6-6 or 7-5.

Striking distance of 136. Would it be off topic to write that my neck and back are sore from working on porch lights in North Carolina? My two sons in law here offered some drink options strictly for medicinal purposes, but the heathens had no scotch or bourbon. As a Ky bred old man of course I refused that indignation. If that’s somehow off topic on a bye week, I’ll try to do better as we inch closer to 136+

    The Thread Trivia:
Did you know it only took 4 days to reach page 136 in the Chip Kelly thread.

Albeit that was once we had fired Mac and after the Chip Kelly stuff hit the fan.

This thread will cruise along slowly until the opening actually happens.

So I guess we can say, we got off to a head start.

If this kind of advanced ciphering falls into the wrong hands, all civilized societies could fall! This type of apocryphal wisdom strikes me as the perfect synchronization of far eastern mystic musing mixed with universal field theory physics of the sage Edgar Thompson. Please be careful when posting this type of information. If those numbers were introduced into the large hadron collider it could bring about decades of gator football instability, shaky athletic directors, dogs and cats living together in sin and false prophets of 12 personnel formations.

I still expect that will happen but they are gonna make us wait because Napier hasn’t done anything particularly egregious other than demonstrating that he isn’t the guy.

I just took a look at the original thread and I mentioned my 7 year old. He is now 14 years old, 5' 10" and we are still in the same boat.
