I think that my point was clearly made.

I will not go as low as a supposed grown man who beds teenaged women and tried to do so with Nick Saban's daughter.

(Ever wonder why he had to leave Alabama in such a hurry?)

That person does not belong on a college campus anywhere!

Some people say he's a good recruiter but TBH he hasn't impressed there either. Outside of Lagway and that DL who may or may not be the real thing, he really hasn't recruited anyone great.

I might favor Lane as a head coach if he gets castrated!

You have watched too much TV and movies!

But just in case you might want to make an appointment with a mental health professional.

How long have you had these problems? ......................

TBH UT had some egregious errors too that put us in a position to go up comfortably at the half. They were going thru us like a box of Ex-Lax that first drive until the fumbled handoff. Also, threw a pick after getting lucky on the craziest 4th down decision I've ever seen.

They had drives sure. And Everyone makes mistakes. But the defense was beyond awful against miami and aTm. Considering miss state also ran over us for 300 yards and 200 above their average the improvement the last two games was palpable.

We are talking about Joey Freshwater aka Lane the train wreck.

Lane sets all time lows for the character of a football coach.

He got fired by Nick Saban because he went after Saban's daughter.

That is a poor excuse for a human being!

Saban and Meyer are not even close to Joey Freshwater as a poor excuse for a human being.

I think both linebackers out of the last class are going to be pretty damn good too along with the running backs. He took some really good defensive backs too that are young and are not playing yet.

I don't know who is calling what since the week off (I'll skip my tangent rant that it's silly we don't know who calls plays on Defense) but it is working wonders. I also attribute a higher % of plays where our 1's are on the field. The snaps at Safety against Ut in particular stand out vs year to date.

Oh, no doubt the D looks way way better. Just sayin that we had some breaks that first half and without them it might've still been a 3 point game without our gaffes. Without the breaks and with our gaffes it might've gotten ugly though. :D

Matt, permit me to add some perspective.

Shortly after the Gators won 2 natty's in 3 years, our football program--whole kit n kaboodle--was valued at less than (although right around) 100 million dollars, per Forbes. At that time, we (that is, UF--the school) were already pulling in >1/2 a billion annually, in research grants. That's >5x the value (not gross revenues, let alone net), of the football program.

Here's a quick snapshot of where we stand today:

University of Florida faculty conducted a record $1.26 billion in research in fiscal year 2024, thanks in part to a nearly 10% increase in federally funded research, compared to FY2023.

“Driven by a spirit of discovery and backed by the state of Florida, UF’s incredible faculty do incredible work,” said Mori Hosseini, chair of UF’s Board of Trustees. “We are proud of our researchers and their teams.”

Federally funded research accounts for about 46% of UF’s total and it has increased 46 percent over the last five years, to a record $581 million in 2024.

“At the University of Florida, we do big things and we solve big problems,” said UF President Ben Sasse. “We are proud to work with government agencies to put our expertise to work. Our discoveries are driving Florida forward.”

Overall, research spending was up about $8 million over last year.

UF research spending at record $1.26 billion for FY2024.

Here's our football program, chiming in at a respectable 9th place, despite our gridiron difficulties of late (well...last 15 years)--well as of 2019--most recent I could find--but by Forbes still:

    9 | Florida (SEC)
    • Three-Year Avg. Revenue: $117M

    • Three-Year Avg. Profit: $69M

College Football’s Most Valuable Teams: Reigning Champion Clemson Tigers Claw Into Top 25

    further perspective--No. one = Tamu:

    1 | Texas A&M (SEC)
    • Three-Year Avg. Revenue: $147M

    • Three-Year Avg. Profit: $94M

TBL: Tamu's *sensational* No. 1 ranked revenues of $147 Million, it a pittiable joke against 1.26 BILLION in annual research dinero.

To compare the 2, is to compare gold bullion to recycled aluminium.

But that said, there is ZERO reason why we can't be far more respectable and competitive on the gridiron than we have been, AND still improve significantly on our research revenues (we actually have a lot of improvement yet to accomplish in that regard as well).

    jmho/fwiw.
