I agree that the compulsion to stay close to home for these recruits isn’t what it once was. In fact, it might even be that a greater number now want to experience a new and different environment.
Nowadays the top high school athletes are flown all over the country to be wine and dined by the top programs.

It’s a tough decision for sure. Do either have that signature win?

Interesting things about Kiffin offense is that he doesn't call the plays. Charlie Weis Jr is the OC, play caller and QB coach.

The world just seems much smaller today and people do venture out more. When I was a kid, most of my extended family was around. Now they are scattered all over the US , even one in Japan.

Well that was the reason we lost to Arkansas last year on a missed field goal if you ask many on this board. So do they blame Lane or their ST Coach for yesterday.

Kiffin may be the best coach available at the end of the year but I do not consider him elite. It’s also not a great idea, as you say, to overpay people with personalities like his.

He has and can call the plays but he hired someone to focus on the offense exclusively so he can act as a head coach to oversee the entire team. I know it's a novel concept that a head coach doesn't act as the offensive coordinator and the team can have more than 6 plays they run but wow...kudos to Lane for pushing the envelope. Maybe thats why their "process" doesn't take a lifetime.

I believe he wins that game easily with Mertz or Lagway Dart was struggling.

The most serious question to answer with lane is his motivation. What i mean is how satisfied is he in college or does want back in the league. He has definitely shown a penchant to leave a school abruptly. Many here will say all coaches do maybe so. We absolutely can not withstand another 2-4 year search

Not advocating for either from yesterday just that we need a guy that can adapt and win 9-10 games/year this should get us a dance ticket most years. Then we need to celebrate the games and seasons

He did better calling the plays last year but still couldn’t notch the signature win over the elite of the sec. Fortunately moving forward that is no longer necessary for the big prize

I just want the return of fundamental football and so I would take a stoops in a heartbeat. Solid lines almost every year. The offense would likely improve with Florida talent. At least stoops is time tested against sec football. Inject some playmakers like Wilson, Badger, Baugh, lagway in Kentuckys offense and I'd guess they could win a game against Georgia, Bama from time to time all things considered. Lane has not really shown an ability to really test the big boys despite all the flashy offense.

How about a guy for head coach at UF whose résumé looks like… Wide receiver coach under Nick Saban at Alabama, Sunbelt coach of the year, emphasis on culture, and work ethic and building the lines of scrimmage…? Curt Cignetti former national champ at James Madison has Indiana 5-0!!
