That’s exactly what I’ve been thinking, we should’ve beat them last year. Missouri does not impress me. They’re solid, but last year is probably about as good as you’re going to get out of him.

He would probably give us three months of his time for several million dollars. He may not be interested in continuing coaching, but that might be like a mini vacation for him.

Maybe I just like shiny things but I thought those cignetti clips would generate more interest over here. Seems like a viable option instead of rehashing retreads and unrealistic options.

Impressed me enough to Google him. Which impressed me more.

Everybody is on the Lane Train, but he presents a very intriguing option. Could UF pull him from Indiana after one season? He is only making 4.5

Don't know if he has a preference to region like some do. Jeff teddford for example had always been a west coast guy when he was a hot commodity before he became meh.

The age thing is a concern and I wish he was 5 years younger but I'd take him for a solid 5 to 7 years if possible. I'd think we could out bid Indiana but it comes down to what motivates him. Dies he want to prove he can win at Indiana while not having the pressure to rebuild a Florida? Reportedly he had a 5 star qb looking at Indiana that ended up at usc but he only considered Indiana because of cignetti. Still kind of impressive.

He was Saban's recruiting coordinator at Bama, so I'd assume he has some regional comfort here.

Viable perhaps but he’s old and has no power conference success unless you count this year. Nice quotes but we all liked “Scared money don’t make money” until we didn’t. “Proven” enjoyers would be in shambles but they have no real candidate outside of Lane anyway I suppose.

True. No guarantees but his record speaks for itself. Kalen Deboer has 2 years at Fresno and 2 at Washington before Bama scooped him up. His record at lower levels is insane though. Pisses me off Bama landed a guy like that who is also only 49 years old...

Very interesting chart. I would love to see it adjusted by strength of schedule on a weekly basis.

Those 3 I named are all considered by many to be the most dominant players at their respective position. I was just saying all you would need would be those three. Not arguing that the 85 Bears and their scheme was the most dominant D of NFL history for one season. I prefer the Steelers defense of mean Joe Greene, Lambert, Russel, Ham, Mel Blount, etc. for all time best over their multiple Super Bowls run. The 1976 Steel Curtain gave up a measly 9.6 points per game with 5 shut outs! I'm sure there are Steeler fans on here who could name how many on that defense made the HOF I'm guessing 4. 1962 Packers defense had 6 make the HOF but that's before my time. 71 Dallas D (Doomsday) had 4 HOF.
EDIT I am not nor have I ever been a Steeler fan.

There’s a part of me pulling for Cignetti because when I first brought up his name one of these threads, another poster mocked me for “these kind of underwhelming options“ to the discussion (or words to that effect).

So, I kinda want him picked mostly because I want the win.

Following Saban, he could be out in less than 4 years. Who knows. Auburn being down certainly helps. Unless he were to find a way to still lose to them.

I actually really wanted him here. But, he definitely didn't break through in Nebraska. Might not have made it here in Big Boy Conference either.
