Because Colorado is exceeding expectations by every measure, considering where they came from, the conference they play in and their being located in a recruiting black hole area of the country. As I've said in previous posts, there are 15 SEC teams in the Top 31 recruiting classes right now. So even Mississippi State, as badly as they suck, can easily sleepwalk their way into a better recruiting class than Colorado, simply because they are in the SEC and located much closer to where 90% of the nation's talent lives. I would be saying the same thing about Colorado if Percy Harvin was their head coach. But let's focus on the Gators.. leave Colorado out of this discussion.

Those are Athletic Department donations over a period of 17 years. Specifically, how much NIL was spent on this year's roster? The UAA and the Gator Collective don't share bank accounts.

I’m saying “it’s got to get better” in terms of wins meaning - where we are is not acceptable. I’m saying he has to continue to win for me to get real excitement. But the last half of the season is a positive indicator that he can continue to win.

No i’m not content to be 7-5 or 8-4. I expect more. But I’m also willing to have some patience and not cite all the bad without acknowledging that improvement has been made. I was ready to fire him after aTm. I believe our program was an utter dumpster fire despite winning games under the previous 2 regimes.

What coach is actually worthy of the $$ of their salary? I’m not paying him.

As for BOT/UAA I firmly believe that the teams that were already the most “shady” in terms of improper benefits from the past were right in step with “making it legal” in the NIL era.

I’m not naive enough to think UF was squeaky clean but I think we were very conservative due to the hammer we received in the 80s. And we stalled out of the gate with NIL because of it (Rashada situation for one). That’s not all on the coach.

I’m too lazy to look it up but on GameDay early in the season when all the fire Billy speculation was going on Saban said (paraphrasing) “They’ve fired 3 coaches each after just a few seasons, you have to look at the administration and support too.”

I occasionally listen to some of the podcasts and Spurrier said (after the early losses) “we have to see if these guys can coach their way out of it” and he was right.

Meh, Napier worked for Saban. I am going to let you have the last word on it. By all means, my goal is not to take away from your enjoyment of following our team. In my mind, Spurrier put us on the map as a national powerhouse. Meyer continued the tradition, making us into a storied program for the history books and an elite destination program. We've slowly regressed since then. I think a lot of us are simply tired and willing to take whatever we can get at this point. That's just not something I can do. But I do understand the thought process and we both want the same things in the end.

Agree completely with the Muschamp comparison. I really liked Muschamp - had friends sort of on the inside at the time and how great he was to everyone, how much all the academic administration appreciated him. I thought it was a shoe in that he would get us to the top after that year.

With Napier I’m “cautiously optimistic” and glad to see some consistency and hard fought wins this year.

And given the ever changing landscape of college football now - I’m not sure there is a homerun guy. Recruiting/transfer portal/NIL … it’s a lot tougher than it used to be. A lot more parity across the board.

So did Muschamp and Mac. So you may have something there. But I do think Saban is correct.

I would like to think we are at this take off point and patience is a virtue. Like Dabo at Clemson early on. We will look back at 2024 as the first step back to a championship caliber program. But I’m not that much of a pumper.

Like I said “we have to keep winning”

FWIW Spurrier era began my sophomore year. And as luck would have it I lived in GNV again with Zook and Meyer era and had season tickets throughout. So I’ve lived it. Saw 2/3 NC games in person. We both want the same thing.

The next hire is critical. No need to rush it, I guess. But, yes, cautiously optimistic pretty much sums up my feelings as well.
