When it's the #4 pick in the draft and looks to be a complete bust, yeah that gets noticed. What doesn't get noticed much is when the 99th pick in the draft doesn't turn into a regular starter, because only 8% of QBs drafted in the 4th round become regular starters for more than just a few games. Considering Wuerffel did start 10 NFL games and played in many others, no NFL team was upset with Spurrier for selling them a bill of goods with Danny. The Saints took a flyer on him and he didn't work out. He actually lasted 6 years in the league, so that was a pretty bad comparison you made. No telling what Napier and his staff told the Colts about AR.

AR couldn't hit a running back with a pass in the backfield. It didn't surprise anyone that he's going to be a risk/take some time to develop.

That does t mean they drafted him with the expectation to take over day one. He was behind garrapalo and that guy they traded to Dallas. He just happened to be a diamond in the rough stud. The point is that you are playing with house money when you draft a qb that late.

Yeah, I mean it's hard to drill down to the pinpoint level of detail needed, but I am guessing Wuerffel actually slightly out-performed the mean for QBs drafted as the 99th overall pick (or in that immediate range). So nobody was mad at Spurrier for anything, lol. What a weird observation to make. Everybody knew the league had concerns about Wuerffel's ability to transfer his level of performance to the NFL, but his college stats were so good that someone was going take a flyer on him at some point in the draft.

What a difference a few games make. We should all remember this fact. I was waiting for it because CBN never looked lost and carried an air of “ok, I know what I’m doing” even at the worst moments.

And yes, good recruits and flips are coming out of the woodwork now! Love it.

How many QBs did Spurrier deliver to the NFL in his 1st season at Florida?
How many QB's did Urban deliver to the NFL in his first season?

AR played ONE season for Billy.

What are you even talking about?

AR was drafted strictly on potential. There wasn’t much on college tape to prove he could lead an NFL franchise. He was smart to enter the draft when he did.

A lot of us and we in your post, when in reality you're only speaking for your self. The gator team winning against LSU and the rebs put a nail in the coffin of your narrative. Now you are really grasping at straws trying to invent a false narrative that Billy is not trusted by the NFL. I would characterize your posts as creative slime.

Our running scheme is generally good when we run into favorable boxes. I would say the passing scheme is the weak link here along with the play calling. Lagway doesn’t have many easy throws to wide open receivers that other passing schemes produce.

Isolating a RB against their best DB and running a slant doesn’t put pressure on the opposing defense. We don’t seem to scheme up mismatches in the passing game, but run routes that should work if everything goes right. The issue is when the opposing team has the same level of talent or greater, it is harder to win those matchups and have everything go right.
